Something special is happening

I’ve been supporting this team for 62 years , but this is the first time I feel something special is happening, I know when we won the fa cup it was remarkable , this time for me at least it wouldn’t be , this team , club are on the brink of a sensational new chapter in our history , Bring it on.
Agreed, though sadly, because of ego's, and/or the desire to earn more money elsewhere, our better players in that cup winning team, didn't hang around long enough, to fulfill their potential at Sunderland, though I feel this group of players are happy being here, and if possible, would like to stay and go on to achieve better things at Sunderland.

Yeah, the Peter Reid back to back 7th place finishes seemed a temporary success and likely to fade away as quick as it happened. The foundations of this success and the ambition of the people in charge seems on a new level to anything I have seen previously.....now if we could just find a new Kevin Phillips that would be nice!
I met him outside the ground after the game

I started supporting SAFC in 1958. I went to my first match in 1962. I was at every game in our cup run in 1973. I saw our home games in Europe v Vasas and Sporting Lisbon. I have seen God knows how many promotions and relegations . In my back garden in Thornton Cleveleys, Lancashire, I have the barrier from The Fulwell End that I used to lean against .
At 77, I have seen the rough and the even rougher BUT I have never felt as optimistic as I’m feeling at this moment. It really does feel different this time. The future is bright! The future is red and white!

I was down at Notts County too. Little did I know.

There won't be many fans that went down to Reading still alive!

I’ve said for the last year we will win the prem before the mags. Nowt do do with money or where we are now, it’s the running of the club. We have possibly the best DoF in European football and a hugely ambitious owner. He’s not even 30 yet is he
That won’t be lost on other, richer clubs than us so the most important thing going forward is to ensure he’s happy and well rewarded for his work. This season’s success is undoubtedly down to him and his team’s work last summer.

The big problem we had then I think because of the crap economy there was a wage freeze so as employers we couldn't pay any more even if we wanted to. Only way players could get enhanced deals was by moving. Getting Tony Towers and Jeff Clarke from Man City obviously not as good as internationals Watson & Tueart but still pretty good lads. We didn't really replace Horswill with any proper aggression in the midfield then Porterfield got knacked in that car crash which goosed us in 1974/75. Couple of years too soon for our great youngsters Arnott, Elliott & Rowell.

Especially when City are taken out of the equation in the next fortnight 😄
Reckon if city hire maresca they will go south
If Liverpool stick with Slot I can’t them improving, add in a slowing ageing VvD, no more salah
I also believe United will rue the appt of Carrick. Don’t believe he has ruthlessness to succeed
Who knows with Chelsea and Spurs. 2 coaches with exemplary coaching credentials at trigger happy dysfunctional clubs
Bournemouth will lose at least 3 of the best players that got them to sixth plus their highly rated manager has gone
Is a pathway opening up in front of us with some judicious recruitment
