Some Data

That’s what happens when chances fall to midfielders upfront
We need to stop obsessing with wanting our striker running all ower the shop been involved in everything and let them play between the lines and let the chances fall to them instead of the wrong players !
So what you're saying is they need to be coached to play a certain way?

The only data that matters is 0 goals against 3. That tells us yesterday wasn’t good enough and we have real problems.
xg tells us where the prob;ems may be..so SAFC are generating chances but not convetting them...which tells you the issue is with the strikers..

a team which ccreates fewer chances but scores them..the issue would but the players not getting the ball to the strikers

I could tell them that’s the problem without xg to be fair. One of the only agreed upon opinions on this board is that we’ve needed a goalscoring striker for the past 2 seasons

absolutely-for SAFC the reasons are intuitive-but of course for other clubs or in other areas it may not be as obvious.

But, but we don't create nowt and Haaland would struggle in this team.🤔
We don't make chances for the strikers, look at that six yard box in the graph above, it's pitiful. Our wingers don't look for the striker or put crosses in for them to attack, they pull the ball back behind the strikers and hope onrushing midfielders can score. Midfielders don't play through balls when our strikers get on the shoulder of the last man, they play it out wide instead.

According to that majority of our chances come inside the box.

An xG of 0.4 against a side just outside the relegation zone

0.9 against Plymouth, 0.7 against Hull, 0.8 against Ipswich, 0.5 against Preston, 0.35 against Rotherham.

Staggeringly shite.

The usual suspects will point to the results against Plymouth and Preston I'm sure but it's just not sustainable to win games with those numbers.
