Anyone know the best place to buy these? B&Q wanted 2 grand for supply only of theirs

Not after Laminate or Granite but the solid surface type ones (like Corian)

Also what is the wise SMB's verdict on them

We got Corian from Solid Surface NE based in Spennymoor, they were miles cheaper than anyone else and did a cracking job.

They said it was the biggest single piece they'd ever done, it was about £2,400 fitted including the double sink.

nice. We went for quartz in the end. found what we thought was some cracking granite only to dfind it was bloody marble.

spent hours walking round the yard with its thousands of slabs

We had quartz in our last hovel, the whitey cream coloured stuff with spangley bits in

We have black granite with spangley bits in at the hovel upgrade

White quartz doesn't show up the bits - therefore you feel that the kitchen is cleaner even though botulism is about to wipe out your entire family

Black shows up every single crum and mark so you feel like you're a proper peasant all the time

VERDICT: Quartz it is

Haha, Brad said the same to me too.... I guess its part of their sales patter!

Would second them too however, they were brilliant.

Are those doors from PWS? If so, they're the same as ours, you've good taste!

I had balck granite in last place.. shows all smears etc

we have white now with a small sparkly occasional fleck.

biggest thing we have to worry about is tea stains

That's pretty much the type and colour I'm after.....do you know if they just sell it or do they only supply and fit? I already have a kitchen fitter who has quoted me to install it.

get the specialist to fit your worktops... they fuck up its their issue then.

they will need to template etc.

let the kitchen fitter do the rest

I've got Corian. I've got a mate who is a kitchen fitter so he did all the cabinets and appliances, but when it came to the worktops, i got the number of the local Corian rep, phoned her up and sorted direct. They sent a fella out to measure up, and it was their fitters who brought if and fit it.

Butchers Block / beech stuff looks nice.
But you have to oil it every few months or it stops being waterproof. And then every year it needs a light sanding and then lots of oiling.

not worth the hassle, wouldn't get again
