SoL To Undergo Multi-Million-Pound Investment Programme

Inside or out? there was that fencing around a damaged metal cover outside the ground and combined with the area fenced off for the TV camera crews caused chaos before the game. Why could they not have just put a plate over the issue.
Yeah, that’s the issue I was on about too!

Development of infrastructure is outside of the FFP rules. We have a billionaire owner, another shareholder who isn’t short of a few bob, and they have access to finance via borrowing if they need it.

The SoL is quite frankly dropping to bits. It’s aged like a half eaten pear on a mantle piece. It was built on the cheap and it isn’t half showing now. The custodians of the club should look to do something more about it sharpish before we’re totally left behind again as we were at Roker.
I think that’s a little unfair to Sir Bob and John Fickling. They did very well to get the SOL built in difficult times and when SirJohn Hall was getting his Tory mates to pump money into Newcastle.

I agree the maintenance since these owners took over has been extremely poor. They should be ashamed quite frankly.

They worked with what they had. But it was built on the cheap. The north stand extension similarly so.

At a time where most serious clubs are looking to enhance their stadiums, there are seemingly no plans afoot to do anything with our very quickly deteriorating home.

Really bad post match. I’ll be glad when Regis le bridge is finished

Aye it has been made a lot worse by the road down to the sheepfolds being closed, so instead of north stand going down towards sheepfolds and taking a left, everyone now has to go right after Stokoe statue.

If it’s going to be like that the rest of the season the club might have to have a think about access options.

Who's going to pay for work to ours like?

Ellis Short would not invest in the stadium…. This is not a short term problem

Well exactly. It should be owners but it’s highly unlikely.

For the changing demands of supporters (customers) and especially for revenue for concerts it’s needed fairly quickly or we’ll be left behind.
Isn't that because their grounds are 100 years old and they need to? We enhanced (build a state of the art new stadium) 28 years ago.

Very few / none of the grounds are 100 hundred years old structurally. They might be located in the same place but they’re redeveloping redevelopments now

Having visited Elland road, I don’t think I’ll ever complain about the Sol again. As for the smoking area at the back of the south stand does anyone really think this will have any positive effect on the atmosphere/match day experience? If anything to me it would make the stands emptier. More to the point it’s laughable a born and bred Sunderland fan, who builds a successful career and leaves a very well paid position in the states to move back to work for his boyhood club, engineers various sponsorship deals, enhances shirt sales through a partnership with Hummel that has created record sales among other successes in the first year of his role, can be accused of not giving a shit about the regular fan because he won’t build a smoking shed. @tunstallhill have a day off.
