SoL To Undergo Multi-Million-Pound Investment Programme

You can’t stand still. There’s new stadiums and facilities popping up all the time. There’s only so many top acts.

If the mags ever redevelop or move you can bet we will lose out to the biggest acts.

I’ve got no idea why you’re so hellbent on not improving the sol.

Weve literally had the biggest acts in the world coming to the Stadium of Light for 15 years now

There will be some sort of financial incentive to a partnership is my experience in a financial sector. For example, they didn’t partner with adi.tv when they got the scoreboards installed so no financial incentive will have been in place, you get my gist.

So it was a decent piece of business by SAFC then?

Will it happen or not , I have no idea but some of the stuff you are spaffing out is bollocks. Like when you say they won’t do it for a couple of gigs a year. It’s reported that Liverpool will make between 5 and 10m from the Taylor swift gigs this year.
10m is how much we took in gate revenue in the 22/23 season , it’s a absolutely huge sum of money. I’m not convinced they would increase the seats but who knows. As well as the current work in the city that will hopefully attract other investment pretty soon we will have one of the biggest film studios in the world in spitting distance of our ground and with it im sure a lot of “money” people. Newcastle have a corporate offering that costs 700 quid a seat before VAT if we can even get 200 seats a game at that level that’s 3m per season. Be terrible if we are not even looking into stuff like that

That's interesting, it's a lot of money. I'd like to know how it compares to Springsteen, Beyonce etc... Surely those gigs aren't far off Taylor swift in terms of profitability.

Is there any evidence that we missed out on Taylor Swift due to not having the facilities? It seems unlikely that we'd be OK for all the other acts but not her. Maybe we applied and Glasgow, Manchester and Liverpool we're chosen for other reasons

I'm not. I just think it's mad that people think it's realistic with the current owners and their budget. I refer you to my post from 2 pages back-

"Hey I'm all for it, extend it to 100,000 with the best coorperate facilities in the known universe, as long as my ST price didn't go up it wouldn't really effect me"

Clearly I'm not hell bent on not improving
That’s not what you’re saying tho. You’re saying we don't need to do anything cos we’re getting the concerts now.

They’ve been spending a load on the stadium and store. More than any other owner since the stadium was built.

There’s more evidence of something happening than not, given what’s been going on.

Nothing in the public. But it’s well known for people who have connections in the club. I’ve been told by someone who is at SAFC and would have been involved we lost out on swift due to facilities. The ticketing system was an issue as well.

I'm not, I'm saying is there any evidence of us NOT getting a concert or event due to lack of executive facilities?

It goes without saying that if you don't improve and keep up with the market that you'll get left behind, that applies to any business in any sector. But at this precise moment in time, we are dining at the top table with regards to putting on the biggest acts in world music.

I’ve said it before. Any expansion people need to get their head around it isn’t about plastic red seats. It’s about hospitality, corporate and much much nicer areas. Something like club Wembley. It’s like walking round the food court at the metro.

We’re not tho. As we lost out on swift. I don’t know how many times you need to be told. If you don’t believe folk so be it.

Interesting. I wonder what Taylor swift demands for her concerts that the rest of the biggest acts in world music don't demand. Looking at her world tour, she's played plenty smaller stadiums that the SoL

So we have every big act in the entire world, other than Taylor swift. It's a decent position to be in for Sunderland the club and Sunderland the city .

If we need to expand the coorperate facilities to allow us to get Taylor swift next time then so be it. I just hope they've done their sums. I can't see the club spending that money personally, on structural stadium modifications and creating this club wembley/spurs stadium type set up, as I don't think it would be necessary for our home games (at the moment)

I'd be interested in and supportive of anything like this that the club do, as long as it doesn't detrimentally effect the match going fan.

The red seats didn't last long, never liked the white corners either
Fans in the last red block at the back before the corner won't be able to see the goal with fans standing in the block next to them.

I need to check if they are doing crowd control blocked seats in that area again this season

I think the 4 seat wide buffer in the South Stand sold out to part season tickets last season when they finally did away with it if I remember correctly and no one has complained about being moved.

I can also see some new LED boards put in above the "FC" on the seats and on the left side too. Wonder what they will be used for, and why they didn't say anything in the video. I am hoping they do the second row of LED boards around the bottom of the premier concourse before the fan branch posters. Would modernise it a bit more. I love the stadium of light, I just wish it got the attention it deserves and fixing up, hopefully this is the start of it.

I don't think the ownership have bad intentions or whatever, I just don't believe KLD has access to anywhere near the sort of funds people thought.

They believe in their plan and they cover the losses but it'll be 2 seasons in a row where we will probably be in a positive for transfer fees while we have major gaps in the squad.
He has loads of money. He just doesn't want to spend it on SAFC. His money, his choice.
