SoL To Undergo Multi-Million-Pound Investment Programme

I can also see some new LED boards put in above the "FC" on the seats and on the left side too. Wonder what they will be used for, and why they didn't say anything in the video. I am hoping they do the second row of LED boards around the bottom of the premier concourse before the fan branch posters. Would modernise it a bit more. I love the stadium of light, I just wish it got the attention it deserves and fixing up, hopefully this is the start of it.
ah aye - good spot

Why would they put LED boards over there? It's not on the TV, There's not even LED boards pitch side nevermind above.

Well it's quite common practice actually. Boro have them, most prem stadiums have them, Wembley have them. It makes the stadium look more modern. I'm not quite sure you understand what I mean. This is a photo for reference to what I mean.

edit: maybe i misunderstood you? were you asking why the club put them there, or saying my statement was daft.

I think they tend to be in the areas you see on TV though. Putting them on the West Stand wouldn't make much sense.

It's a shame that you don't see the big side on TV, it makes the ground look much smaller and too similar to Boro etc.

Yeah, I see what you mean, to be honest I semi-forgot they were for profit purpose and I thought they were to just add something to the stadium  - maybe if this extension that people were arguing about happens that might be a place to have them.

Usually the LED boards are generally on the side where the cameras show. They'd be behind the cameras there, so all they'd be doing is advertising to people in the East Stand. We don't have LED boards at all on the West stand pitchside, nevermind up there. I know some have them all the way around with a little strip pointing the cameras, believe the mags do it if I'm right.

Personally, I despise the things but I get why they're there for money reasons.

Yes, Andew said the same. As I said, I semi-forgot they were for profit purpose and I thought they were to just add something to the stadium.

I remember when I was down Barsnsley (pretty sure it was when Mick Harford made his debut for us) and I remember the side the cameras didnt see had hay bails!

Interesting. I wonder what Taylor swift demands for her concerts that the rest of the biggest acts in world music don't demand. Looking at her world tour, she's played plenty smaller stadiums that the SoL

So we have every big act in the entire world, other than Taylor swift. It's a decent position to be in for Sunderland the club and Sunderland the city .

If we need to expand the coorperate facilities to allow us to get Taylor swift next time then so be it. I just hope they've done their sums. I can't see the club spending that money personally, on structural stadium modifications and creating this club wembley/spurs stadium type set up, as I don't think it would be necessary for our home games (at the moment)

I'd be interested in and supportive of anything like this that the club do, as long as it doesn't detrimentally effect the match going fan.
I think you are missing the point.
Newcastle are about to announce either a rebuild of their stadium, or a new stadium.
They are going to spend at least £2bn on it. It was all in various articles last week.

If they do that, then they will make sure it can host other events. In the article they even claim to go for more events, and even want to try and get the NFL there.
They will go all out on it, they won’t be held back either because stadium builds are not part of FFP.

When that stadium is built, do you honestly think the big acts will be coming to the SOL as it is now?
In previous years they didn’t care about additional income, so the SOL pretty much had a free run at concerts. In the summer they put their eggs in the basket for the England games over concerts. The SOL won’t have that advantage in future. Talking about England games, the SOL has already missed on hosting games at the next Euro’s because of Newcastle.

If the club want to compete in future for events, then they need to either dramatically improve the SOL, or face just getting whatever Newcastle doesn’t pick up.

Can’t tell if I’m tripping here, but they are on the east stand aren’t they? So they would be on camera.

Aren’t we talking about screens on either side of the badge on the east stand?

Yeah. The other lad was suggesting adding them to the middle of the west stand.
