SoL To Undergo Multi-Million-Pound Investment Programme

I genuinely can’t believe some of the things people will twist about like.

People whinging because another stadium’s bit of metal looks better than our stadiums little bit of metal.
People have pride in our club and the stadium and want it looked after and improved. We can afford to do it properly, we just don’t — in this instance we’ve just done it on the cheap.

Everyone’s standards are different — some people go out every fortnight and wash their car and buy nice stuff to clean it. Some people don’t care and never clean it. Or they pay for option 1 at the drive through car wash instead of a more expensive one. Some people paint their front door when the paint looks shabby, or they upgrade it to a better one. But then some people don’t give a fuck and just let the paint flake off theirs, or they buy the cheapest possible new one instead of a decent one.
I don’t think they’re arguing for the sake of how it looks mind

It’s the fact of how clubs are getting in rail that has been specifically designed to maximise space, comfort, view etc
Exactly. I’d rather we’d just saved the money. Do it properly next season.

This picture shows our rails nowt like city or spurs!
Deffo a cheap and cheerful option taken by SAFC here.
The manufacturer hasn't even taken the time to clean off the weld spatter from the handrail!!!
And what's worse is that nobody has checked this out in the build stage in the factory from the manufacturers or from SAFC.
Pay peanuts- you get monkeys.

If the club did more things properly then people wouldn’t have to pass comment on it negatively. Let’s just blindly ignore it when they do things on the cheap… a bit like with the strikers last year…

Pitch looks fantastic, mind. Looks like they’ve spent the dosh there. 😉
Do you sit/stand there?
People are just pointing out we didn't install rail seating and went for the cheaper option of just installing rails in the aisle.
Aah well, apologies

Might have been answered somewhere amongst all the back and forth, but is there any sign of the new lighting and PA going in? I’m assuming that’s scheduled for the beginning of the new season?

They look like galvi rails so no chance they’ll ever be painted in situ, it would just peel off. Would need powder coating as has been said further up the thread.
Zinc chromate primer then some red boottopping paint, that’s if either are manufactured these days. I’m sure International could cook something up if they are still in business.

Just wondering if it would impact you.
It impacts all the people who sit there. Just cause I sit in a different area doesn’t matter.

It impacts the club as as whole in ten years when a new owner, who gives a shit about doing a proper job has to take out the rails and replace the seats with proper rail seating instead of going ‘well that’s been done properly the first time — that’s one less job to do.’

You ever heard the phrase ‘buy well — buy once?’

Fuck off man 😂😂😂
You're whinging for the sake of whinging. Get a grip

No-one sits there. They stand. It's made it safer. It performs it's function. Unless the rails fall apart people whinging are just looking for a reason to imo.

Half the stadium is concrete, it's not like it's ruining the aesthetics

If it doesn’t matter to you, just ignore the thread.

You’re the only one whinging. About other fans on this threads. Ones who give a shit about the club and don’t think everything is brilliant all the time.
Why wouldn’t it matter to me I’ll be standing there this coming season and it’s about the SOL?

Stop whinging like a tart man

Let’s just play in taty sacks painted red and white, as they ‘perform their function’ in distinguishing us from the opposition.

Look at what a brilliant job the club has done with this year’s strips and how well received it’s been. They’ve done a cracking job. Why can’t we expect things to be done properly in other areas? It’s attention to detail. Some people will never see it and others will.

How old are you, five? Can no one have a discussion on here without throwing out insults like a toddler would?

The strip you play in and a metal bar are not the same things. I'm all for doing jobs properly, investing, etc. and there are other areas of the stadium need proper investment and modernising, but I just don't see why these rails are so terrible.

Again no one’s arguing the aesthetics, it’s just not specifically designed rail seating which many clubs are going for. This is a wider point into stadium upkeep and improvements that’s been discussed for a couple of year now. We seem to go for the cheapest option which ends up costing us more in the long run.

The option we have is taking space away from the row, with a potential trip hazard every metre or so. There is no rail seating the seats are exactly the same.

For reference here is Shrewsburys rail seating -

But why will this cost us more in the long run?
If its a cheaper option but is just as robust and works well.... then it's purely about how it looks.... and in this instance I'm not sure it matters.
