SOL expansion

At least somebody gets it. You only have to look at how every other club operates to see the way to go as well. Expand when the demand is there, it's that simple

Yeah but what happens if we get relegated? It's not beyond the realms of possibility
I was simply responding to somebody saying we can't fill the ground as it is, looks like we will.

Personally if we're going down this route and wanting to make space in the concourse. I wish we'd move the lower stand right upto the railing and have it slightly higher aswell.

The new grounds when the fans are right pitch side are a hell of a lot better than where we've got a massive gap for no reason.

Admit it wouldn't be the cheapest to do but it would massively improve the match day. You could possibly get another row of boxes in the West Stand aswell if you lost the back 3 or 4 rows and used the current white wall void.

Fair enough mate. The owner will wait to see how the next few years pan out before investing in an extension. He's not come across as one for wasting money
This.

I might have imagined this, but was there some requirement when we built the stadium that there had to be a gap? As I say, I might have imagined that.

I'm not in a privileged position to know the numbers. But it's not necessarily a fact that adding to the east stand would be wasting money, it might be but it might not be too.

Apparently, irrespective of PL or championship status there's a need for a lot more corporate seating in the stadium, both for match day and for concerts. Likewise the additional tier also brings the sol into the big league for summer gigs (again, apparently).

Ultimately KLD is trying to build as big and successful a business as possible. If he and the advisors can see that spending £60-80M on stadium improvements, probably via a 20 year debt instrument, and that will add £7 - 15M per annum to Turnover and rising, then they will know if or when to bother doing it. I'm happy whatever they decide, comfortable knowing serious thought has gone into from the relevant experts. Cracking on with it might also be driven by the mags building their new stadium, specifically in respect of grabbing the gigs and building rapport in that industry. I believe we already have a good reputation as the shows have been extremely successful to date, well managed events and importantly with a fantastic sound.
Yeah until we are getting beat every week and have a game at home to Fulham midweek , half the stadium will be empty like a load of our matches over the last few years .
"We" jog on you g_imp

Irrespective of extra seats , the SoL needs a refresh. The concourses are simply too narrow and with the increased numbers attending unsafe due to pinch points . There is a need to increase hospitality to increase revenue. The seating is tired , faded and worn. The white seats look like a jumbled mess reflecting the previous owners.
As supporters we’re all invested in the club and SoL.
I will always remember the feeling of pride when the SoL opened after the years of decline at Roker. The SoL was an investment in the future of the club. Through upgrading that investment continues

Someone made a point about cup games - I have a feeling they’ll be better attended, especially if we consolidate in the PL and start taking them seriously in a few years.

Also, if the ground is sold out every week and people can’t get tickets, they’ll use the cup games as an opportunity to attend and therefore boost the attendances.

The club seriously need to bin the small time attitude and let people buy their own seats for cup games.

Should make people aware that attending cup games will give a season ticket holder priority for Wembley as we'd be well oversubscribed for the allocation. Would boost the attendance

The chances of a trip to Wembley are, sadly, much lower now than in the last 8 years. There can't be many teams outside the big 4 who have been more often than we have recently.

I think the mags gave members who attended cup games equal/greater priority over season ticket holders that didn't.

Of course but if it gets an extra couple of thousand in for cup games then no harm done.
