SOL expansion

There's also an argument that 2 years of sold out SOL and a season ticket waiting list is the best time to think about this stuff. Helps to make it feel like a huge thing to get a ticket and creates demand.
The club already have been.

Only about 1500 season tickets now available to buy. This would only leave about 3000 for general sale.
Source that they have been?
No idea. Certainly something going on. I trust the club on it.
Based on what?
Yep and im both halfs of the argument however thats not forward thinking at all..take the city centre for instance, downtrodden, shops shut, less than 1% population of the sunderland borough live there..no development in 30 years.....its now the most ambitious, fast moving, forward thinking development centre in the country....build it and they will come so to speak..
They didn't come last season when we had thousands of empty seats

We could be int he championship again in 12 months. It's probably more than likely.

As if the ownership are going to invest tens of millions into seats that wouldn't be filled.

as could Aston villa, as could spurs, as could newcastle etc.

As said, it sitting on your hands or forward thinking....its a fine line

Everyone shouting me down about concentrating on the football and cementing our place in the PL rather than putting extra seats in? You’re all happy with the team then? That’s not where we should be investing?

The PL has changed so much since the last time we were there. We have a massive task on our hands to stay there
Last time we consolidated in the PL and had a decent team, our average attendance got worse. Ironically towards the end, as we were struggling badly, out attendances got bigger.

in the championship
Which it's fairly likely we'll be back in next season having lost most weeks. That will hit demand pretty hard. Hopefully that doesn't happen but it's the reality of the situation.

Far too premature to be thinking about stadium expansion. If we're settled after a few years like Brighton or Brentford did then I can see it being on the cards though.

This ^ south stand approval has been in place for years
Planning permission expires after three years, you need to either physically start construction or reapply to extend it. Anything submitted years ago would be long expired.

Getting permission won't be a concern at all anyway so it's mostly irrelevant. It's a formality.

Which is where the club will be financially planning we will be in 12 months time.
Theres that Sunderland glass half empty again which has kept the whole city and club back for decades...
Thankfully theres a lot of people now beginning to get out this of mindset...obvs some havent

That is how the owners will be planning. Fantasy land expecting an extension now

We need to improve the team with big money first

Aye they have been constantly renewing it

What your saying doesn't make sense. And extension won't instantly start paying for itself. That would take a number of years.

What this club doesn't need at this precise time is taking on 20+ million quids worth of additional external debt to pay for an extension, that couldn't be utilised for concerts, and would stand empty in the event of us going back down to the championship. What it definitely doesn't need is 20+ million.qiid taking out of current revenue streams to pay for it.

What it does need to do is focus all financial resource on building a team that can cement its place in thr PL. If it can do that, which looking at other promoted side, will be exceptionally tough then the club may well think about this, providing we get consistent sell outs over a period of 3+ years. Even then history suggests our attendances would tail off at some point.
