SOL expansion

Our support is absolutely fantastic, but there's little room for it to grow if we're honest. We have a core of around 25k season ticket holders who'd turn up in the Northern League, another 10k more fairweather supporters and around 5-10k casual supporters who turn up for the big games. Very few top tier clubs can boast those numbers so it's in no way deriding it, but we tried everything when Niall Quinn was chairman; free tickets given to schools, cheap tickets for cup games etc. and it scarcely made a difference.

I'd love to see the South Stand extension simply because it'd be necessitated by a golden era for the club, but expanding to 63k would be George Reynolds level of bampottery.

This. Our support is incredible despite the decades of shite. The likes of Leeds have plenty of fair weather fans from the 70s (we were mostly shite barring 73) also Leeds won the league in 1991 which would have garnered them a fair few new fans, not to mention they were playing Champions league football in the early 00's.

I don't think people realise how much these expansions would cost these days.

Same people will be moaning we won't pay for a striker in 3 months time.
We're fortunate in that we can add extra seating fairly inexpensively if it was ever required. Most teams don't have that option.

Not to mention they have a huge heavily populated catchment area. Their fans are probably the most fairweather around.

I think they upped the price of hospitality and sold less. Now they have special offers that resemble the original pricing.

so why would we be looking to spend millions of pounds on constructing new coorperate facilities if we can't even sell the ones we have now

Building more boxes/facilities at the back of the east stand (no upper tier) with a re-work of the concourse underneath would make more sense.

is there a demand for that? or will there be if we go up?

they don't sell out at the moment and we're the highest we've been in years

We're currently going through the darkest period in the club's history and averaging 40k. Football is definitely getting more popular.

i'm pretty sure we are out the other side of that.

it will be interesting if we do go up to see what happens to demand for general tickets and coorperate

We missed out on Taylor Swift because we didn’t have enough corporate and hospitality. People can scoff all they like but we are losing money by not building extra hospitality like boxes and if we had a team competing in the top half of prem we’d need a bigger stadium anyway
