SOL expansion

Don't think I've seen the metros been brought up in one of the fans meetings

Maybe something that should be mentioned next time

One of the few things you can’t criticise Nexus for.

Capacity on the line is limited because Network Rail use it too.

Needs to be a conversation about how they can move more fans together. I can’t see why for 2 hours after the game 19 times a year they couldn’t stop at some of the metro stations.

Everything is possible when there’s willing.

With the new bridge now being in place, are you not just as well walking over the bridge to the university stop and missing the crowds, or would they not run as regular from there?

I do think I'd we csn, extend the south stand a one big tier. Make it our proper home end
Don't want a particular carbon copy of north stand
If we get carried away and start the tendering process for, e.g. Start on Site June 26, that would be a mistake IMHO.

If we start looking at options now that's fine - I quite like the big Roker End idea - but that's not the most economically logical.

If the stadium is to be extended the addition of higher yield corporate facilities will generate the most income and this is the option the club will likely choose.

Network Rail have rules about the rulebook when it comes to safety.

There'll be some reason that nobody outside their safety team will have even thought of

It's very much a Nexus issue mind. They used to run duplicate shorts (to Regent Centre) on a match day even in the League One season. They just don't have any trains to do it right now.

They don't even have enough trains to run a normal service atm

Regarding the hybrid application of the sheepfolds high rise apartments impeding on the the South stand expansion, All the comments (rejections) are been taken into consideration and I assume they will be coming to an agreement as the application has had a request of Extension of time put on it until 3rd April 2026 for any decision - applied to by Peter McIntyre

Do we know why the Aquatic Centre was built so close to the stadium when, if I'm remembering correctly, there was loads of empty space behind it?

Edit: just popped into my head, was it something to so with the mine vents? As the road couldn't be moved further back because of them?
The plan below of the North Stand Extension shows the Old Pit Shafts and the one right behind the North Stand Extension, I'm guessing we were not allowed to build over the top.

The last 2 home games we have walked over the new bridge and got the metro at sunderland Station. 2nd time it was absolutely choka . Got to stadium of light and the metro staff were actually pushing people on . There were far too many people on. One extra metro would take the excess away. Then again.......that's too much to ask of nexus eh ?
If they designated the new metros to tie in with matches it would help solve the problem. Loads of room on those.

I went to Sherpfolds on Saturday night and they've done a lovely job of it. It's a shame the wind always seems to be howling around this part of Sunderland as it just takes the shine off things a bit. Not much can be done about the weather!

It’s funny that we are umming and aaahing about if we’re ready for a bigger south stand, then Birmingham have unveiled a 62,000 seat stadium and they do it with a straight face.

I don’t know if that means we’re grumpy buggers, they’re delusional, or whether actually there is a much larger demographic wanting to go to the football these days

Birmingham is a much bigger city with better transport links etc to be fair.

Also tin hat on, but I think some sections of our fanbase, just don't want seats to be empty in case other fans take the piss.

It's not just our fans, all fans of all teams seem to bang on about empty seats for some reason.

I personally couldn’t care less about empty seats. I’d rather have 53k in a 55k ground than have to turn 6-7k people away. I know this point has came up a couple times but once again I think it’s so critical at this stage to get as many young fans hooked as possible, especially from the County Durham’s, Shields and Washington’s etc because once they’re gone, they’re gone. That’s more important than being scared of a couple empty seats

Exactly, "empty seats" and they can bring back the cheap tickets for schools that seemed to exist when I was in school in the late 90s.

That’s true on the above, Birmingham itself is probably about 5 times the size of Sunderland, and is undergoing considerable investment. I’m unsure if they’d fill it mind, but then you’ve got places like Dudley and so on who they’ll be targeting

Haha Birmingham have never been a football club man. Traditionally lower league club with the odd stint in the top flight.

Those posters justifying there prospered new stadium at the same time down playing extending our. Give your heeds a shake
