SMB Tennis thread

Alcaraz might beat him this weekend or in Paris in two weeks (backed Musetti E/W for the French @ 40's a little while back so if it's anyone I hope it's him!) but Sinner's just objectively the best player in the world at this point isn't he? Just crushed Casper Ruud with a nuts performance 6-0 6-1. Won over half the points on Ruud's first serve and 17/21 on Ruud's second serve :lol:

As high as 5/2 to win the French Open with a couple bookies still, looks far too high to me.

I like them both but Alcaraz at his absolute best has so far shown a higher peak level than Sinner, that's why he has won more slams and done it on all surfaces despite being younger. Sinner is far more consistent though and is pretty much unbeatable on hard court but he needs to win the French open and Wimbledon to match what Alcaraz has done so far .

Alcaraz beats Sinner comfortably, thought that was going to happen . Sinner is so consistent and can crush anyone but he can't get to the same level a peak Alcaraz can .

That's two of the worst draws you will ever see for a fifth seed at a Grand Slam, poor Jack Draper and Iga Swiatek

R1 - Mattea Bellucci
R2 - Gael Monfils
R3 - Joao Fonseca
R16 - Jakub Mensik/Alex de Minaur
QF - Jannik Sinner
SF - Alexander Zverev/Novak Djokovic
F - Carlos Alcaraz

That's absolutely grim that for Draper. Swiatek's is so bad that - combined with iffy form - she's gone from favourite all the way out to just shy of 4/1 on the exchanges :lol:

Really tough draw

What is Swiateks route? She's not the same player without the drugs.

Well we've definitely got a Brit into the second week, Jacob Fearnley v Cam Norrie in R3 on Saturday to reach the Round of 16 and likely play Novak Djokovic on Monday. McEnroe's just pretty much said exactly that word for word as I was typing it

Can't imagine that was the way he wanted to do it there with Humbert falling and having to retire 4/5 points later but Fearnley very likely makes his top 50 debut next Monday morning when the rankings tick over. Had only played one match above Futures level this time last year, really has had a great twelve month since going pro.

Let's bin Gauff v Boisson off and make this the final again on Saturday IMO. Could watch these two play against each other a million times over.

Fair play to Swiatek. Thought at 4-1 in the first set she was gonna get hit off court in under 90 minutes but she's fought every bit as hard as she did from 1-6 0-2 down against Rybakina a few days ago. If she wins this she'll probably never lose at Roland Garros again

Probably the best women's game I've seen in years, both were fantastic.
  i really hope thats sarcasm, both were pretty poor Sabalenka especially, made for a gripping and exciting final but pretty poor quality.
Sinner getting the job done in 3 yesterday was tremendous, could easily have gone into a 4th set then who knows. Very high quality match and as unfortunate as it is, shows that Djokovic still has slam winning level tennis in him (even if his draw was very kind for the first 4 rounds) and will be the 2nd favourite at Wimbledon (which i hope anyone but him wins it)

Yeah fair enough!!

I was probably mixing up exciting and fantastic!

This mens final isn't disappointing, Sinner is a machine.

Big step up from the Sinner that played in Rome, he just ain't missing today.
Alcaraz had one poor game and lost the 1st set.
Big break back by Alcaraz, feel he needs this set as can't see Sinner losing from 2 sets up yet I'd back Alcaraz to win if he makes it 1 set all
