Day 5 Order of Play

It was mentioned earlier that Djokovic is on C1 and young Gauff debuting on CC. Lots of talk (and a fair bit of criticism) online about Gauff being on CC, most of it seems to be about her being prioritised over Pliskova, but I think it's fine. Hercog is pretty much an unspectacular journeywomen, so it's not really a much see match up, and it is 100% about Gauff being the A side, but she has arguably been the main talking point of the week so far and I'd imagine most of the CC crowd would rather watch Gauff than Pliskova (some won't have even heard of Pliskova) despite one having minimal pro credentials before Monday while the other is a former #1 and slam finalist.

What an amazing moment and opportunity though for a 15 year old to be scheduled on the most famous tennis court in the world.

Murray-Serena will surely be on CC with the 2 women's matches scheduled.
The only things that can stop Gauff from superstardom now is her attitude and health. Right now she is amazing and will be box office for years to come, she deserves to be on CC and the crowd will love her.

Sounds ideal mate. You'd obviously need to be up early, but not absolutely crazy, and then in the grounds at a perfect time. Must be so handy living where you do.

The single's matches are starting to thin out now and it will primarily be doubles and juniors on the outside courts from next Tuesday, but do you reckon you will be back this tournament?
I think we got there at a perfect time, There was a big rush after 6 so theyd have had to wait longer to get in and any earlier wouldnt have made to much benefit to getting in earlier. We spoke to someone who got there around 8 am and they didnt get in until 1:30
What I couldn't understand was there was already tents for fridays play set up!

I don't think ill get to go back this year. I had to book this day off months ago. I could potentially go Wednesday afternoon but wouldnt get in until 2 ish but I might go and just watch centre court on the hill or queue up for resales

Gauff-Rybarikova had a peak BBC audience of 2.4m, the highest of any match before Nadal-Krygios. I wonder how many will tune in tonight now that the story is even more known and she's on Centre?

I was thinking more like north of 3m, Krygios-Nadal did nearly 4m last night and if some of those fans were first time / occasional then they tune in again, and she's obviously building huge momentum with all the attention she's getting. It's obviously all about her, but a bigger name 'dance partner', like say a Wozniacki, might have helped.

If she wins then she plays either Halep-Azarenka, which would fit that bill, but then it will be on Monday, where every last 16 player on both sides play, potentially including Nadal vs Evans, Djokovic vs Felix, so it won't stand out as much.

Three bad hawk eye calls in the Wozniacki match according to her. Dunno about the second two but she was definitely right on the first one. Called it half a ball hitting the baseline when it was a fair few inches out.

I really don't think hawk eye's close to as accurate as they say it is.

Crazy turnaround in that match. When BBC2 finally left Sue, Borris and co, Wozniacki had just held to go 4-0 up, she was then 40-15 on Zhang's serve and had a further break point, I was thinking it was almost a sympathy hold for Zhang - but she goes on to win 4-6 2-6, winning 12 of the last 14 games. Weird tournament for her - she's done very little all year, had lost 7 of 8 matches coming into and during the earlier grass events, and she was something like 9 games in a row against Caroline Garcia in the 1st round, pretty sure she came from 3-4 down in the first set to win 6-4 6-0.

Big Kev was bang in trouble, a set down, but her has recovered the break in the second set.

Back in big trouble. 2 sets down. I wouldn't be too disappointed if he went out, but I'd like him to take it at least to 4 sets so that I can continue to watch more of the outside courts before Halep-Azarenka come on.

Centre Court about to start it's final scheduled match, whereas Court 1 is possibly not even half way through the 2nd match. Murray/Serena will be getting that prime 7/7.30pm viewing slot on Centre.

Medvedev - Goffin's been an absolute belter so far unsurprisingly, best match I've watched so far this tournament. Fifth set just about to start. Haway the Goff.
