Fifth Element 9/10. Anyone not rating it is a proper wrangun.
Birdman -17/10. Utter utter shite that I couldn't get through. Anyone recommending it is a proper wrangun.

Never seen Dead Zone and I rate Walken so will add that to my queue.
17/10 is the highest rating ever on SMB ;)

Mr Burton (2025) 7/10
Saw it at the cinema last night. Fairly decent, though with some issues. It was too long, and at times the narrative flags. Could easily have been trimmed by 30 minutes and would have been better for it. The opening scenes feature the oldest schoolkids I've ever seen - the actor playing Richard Burton hams it up as if he's playing a seven-year-old, when in fact the character's in his late teens. The CGI recreations of 1940s Port Talbot are awful. But otherwise, very enjoyable.

Marching Powder.

I loved Football Factory and I know it’s not a sequel but it was quite annoying tbh this. The story was hard to believe. Nobody is that stupid and no lass with her brains and sense would put up with someone as stupid as that. It was an absolute mess of a film and I wouldn’t recommend it.

Fifth element is class if you like sci fi ish stuff ,
The female lead is awesome

Warfare 10/10. Jaw dropping, pulsating, moving. Film of the year nailed on.
Everyone I know who`s seen it say the same. Going to see it on Monday - can`t wait.
It looks classs BUT 2 Hrs 17 and when you add in trailers it would be 2 hrs 45 minimum - I'm out
I enjoyed it. Bit of a slow start but it picks up. GREAT sound track too if you like the Blues.

The Sound of Fury (1950)

Frank Lovejoy is an out of work family man. There’s a baby on the way and he’s getting desperate. Reluctantly, he agrees to be the driver for Lloyd Bridges, a good time Charlie nutcase. At first they rob small stores, but Bridges graduates to kidnapping. The reaction of the town, stirred up by the provocative articles of a local journalist, is one of fury.

Directed by Cy Endfield, you can see why films like this got him blacklisted. It’s very critical of the supposed American dream. It’s a film of two halves. The first is a more conventional tale of a desperate Everyman doing something he hates to support his family. The second half is a complete handbrake turn and concentrates on the power of opinion-makers. I settled down to enjoy a standard noir crime film and got something that left an unpleasant taste.

As it’s 1950, it’s all very basically handled, but the message is still pertinent today. It was based on a true story from the 30s. Lovejoy does a great job of showing that his character is a moral person wrestling with his bad choices. The final scenes are very bleak and quite powerful.

7.5/10

Ash.

Yet more proof that Aaron Paul cannot act.

Made on a 500k budget. It does show. But despite being derivative of pretty much every sci fi thriller of the last three decades, it manages to be not even half as interesting as any of them.

Do yourself a favour, turn the lights off, turn your iPhone video camera on and run around the house a bit with synth music on.

I think this Flying Lotus fella needs to give up. I hate this new fad of directors with brand names - Radio Silence, I’m looking at you!
