Significant investment by FPP has been made

From the Echo.

"The group will not be on the shareholding register of the club as a result of this deal, but are believed to be investing a sum around the eight-figure mark."

Key words here are "believed" and "around".

Call me old fashioned but having a good football team is beneficial to the club. Good scouting can help that, it can make the club money. To nigh on render it useless for a year is nonsensical. We've now ended up with a very average league one squad.

Oh and give it a rest with the patience bollocks. We've been piss poor for years and I'm utterly sick of watching boring football with players seemingly signed with no fore thought.
You lap it up though as you seem to think everything is fine
This.

@fyl2u ... the club has a plan? Then what is it? 18 months ago we were supposed to be looking at promotion at the first attempt with the biggest budget ever and no other investment was required 'cos Donald apparently had millions more than was being reported. Then they're talking about 100 point targets whilst scrounging around for investors whilst neglecting the bloke they kept faith in from last season, only to sack him off after 11 games into the season with a mediocre squad and the side languishing in mid table. Now all of a sudden they have big plans again thanks to somebody else fronting a bit of cash, but unfortunately we're already miles behind. What if this manager and this squad can't turn this season around? Another season in League fuckin' 1. Great.

This brings me back to Rocky's comments. I'm sick and tired too. How patient are we supposed to be? This club has never spent longer than 5 years outside of the top flight - never more than 1 outside the top two divisions 'til now. Well we're bang on course to break that little record aren't we. My father's 62 year old - he's thinking he might never see us in the Premier League again.

I am happy. The club is on stronger footing than they were this time last week, with a firm plan in place to improve overall recruitment and youth development that explains why things were cut back so much in the first place.

Why would you want to be angry? It's bad for you, and it's also a choice! Just choose not to be angry. It's easy! Life is good!
There is literally no point in debating with you. Life is great I agree, I have a superb life and family. I'm not sure that means I have to agree with everything everyone does though.

This is vital. At our lower level we should hold all the cards with young lads as they will immediately be a few steps closer to the first team if they sign for us versus any other team in the region whilst also having the prestige of such a big club.
< exactly its not rocket science , surely if have a top class system covering the north of england you will find good enough players for league one and the championship

If life is great, then why do you want to be angry? What is it about this deal that has triggered something in your mind to think "today is the sort of day where I need to be angry about what's happening at the club".

I’m more of a proofs in the pudding type of guy, if what’s happened so far under coton is anything to go by then I stand by my may as well set fire to the cash post.
i agree that skeptcisim about the efficacy of his work so far is very justified..
tough maybe the recruitment this summer gone has been better than the previous summer..as he had more time?

Think of it this way Rocky, we're going to have some cracking young players when we're in Division 2... ;)

You're absolutely right, good scouting can help that, but are you saying our scouting system was good before SD and CM bought the club? IMO it needed tearing down and rebuilding, and that's what's happened.

As someone that enjoys being an SAFC fan regardless of what division we're in, I'm all in favour of them overhauling anything that needs overhauling even if it means a couple of seasons down here in League 1 while we adjust things. It doesn't make me angry that we're down here, as I still love being an SAFC fan. In my opinion, we should thank the skies that we've got owners in charge that actually seem to have a plan, a desire to change things for the better and the financial acumen to be able to bring in hugely rich investors.

What we were doing before SD and CM came in certainly wasn't working. More of this sort of thing, I say!
LOL

If the original intent was to make us financially stable by cutting everything back to bare bones so that they could rebuild it themselves with a firm plan in mind and the right people in the right jobs, then I can't see what the problem is. The club was haemorrhaging money a couple of years ago. It needed to be cut back to the point of being able to pay for itself in order to look good for investors. We now have the investors we were coveting and because of their input we can start building things back up again.

Patience, man. It's a virtue, and it gets rewarded. The club has a plan here. The bumpy bit is almost over. Chill out and enjoy the rest of the ride.

I agree with the sentiment of this, however we have to make sure we have the right men moving forward making those decisions. We’ve been there before with plenty of money but the wrong decision makers. I see nothing in Hill & Coton that gives comfort we’re not making another mistake once we’ve come into money.

I’m delighted with the news yesterday, it’s huge for us and could easily be the turning point for our club. However the recruitment and coaching has to move up a few levels. Coton & Hill the answer? We’ve seemingly no choice but to get behind them and hope...

So what's happened to this seasons? If its paying off legacy payments that can only be Grigg surely?
The rest spent on wages, paying off Cattermole and Oviedo?
Its great that they've cut costs, but they haven't reduced them enough to actually spend anything.
The whole takeover from Short was screwed. They overcomplicated it money has ended up anywhere and everywhere! And I'm not entirely sure that's everything finished with him now anyway.
grigg shouldnt count as a ;legacy payment..in the sense that a legacy payment should be cost of deals before they got here..they signed grigg..
they have spent vast sums in their time here..
short wouldnt want to still be linked to safc financially..it cost him enough last time...it was over complicated because of asn fa rule that para money can only go to a club's bank account..that meant short had to pay sbc and then get reinbursed..
im staggered short didnt know that was the rule..he was chairman of safc..there is no reason why stewrtaa donald would have known it..

they had to be carweful with this seasons para as our income drops massively next year whatever division we are in...signing players now on contracts that run next season would be foolish as our income next year would be lower..there has to be a balance between caution and expenditure to go up..its of course valid to say they have got the balance wrong..though some of the recruitment in the summer hasnt been that bad (safc fans tend to loook at the cost of a sigjing as a testament to ability at league one level thats not accurate)

My father's 62 year old - he's thinking he might never see us in the Premier League again.

The plan is that they're rebuilding the club from bare bones after stripping everything back to a financially stable level to attract investors, which they have just succeeded in attracting. It'll be something along the lines of:

Phase 1: Make the club financially stable by stripping out all the deadwood. Attract Investors.
Phase 2: Use the invested money to rebuild the parts of the club that most need investment and will most help us achieve our long-term aim of being competitive in the Premier League, such as massively upscaling the scouting network along with improving youth recruitment and youth development. Essentially, start building for the future. Get promoted.
Phase 3 (probably): Bring in more investment to spend on the playing squad with our new recruitment team in place, transition, get promoted again.
Phase 4 (probably): Bring in more investment to spend on the playing squad, transition, get into Europe.
Phase 5 (probably): Profit. Wins. Major trophies.

I don't give a stuff if we spend another TWO years in League 1 if this investment in scouting and youth recruitment and development starts paying off properly and giving us cheap as chips amazing young players coming through the ranks along with buying the right players to eventually take us up and either be a success for us further up the leagues or be sold for a profit.

Bring it on!

 Good comeback. Great point well made. You have now convinced me. I am no longer happy with the announcement that the owners of the club have brought in new investment from some incredibly rich people. I am outraged that they had to dissemble our previous shite pisstaking scouting network in order to rebuild it. Absolutely outraged.
