You have to stop being terrified of what the mags think, they don't even cross my mind. We need to be confident and cocky, no more of this fatalist, pissimistic, 'nothing good ever happens, we are cursed' attitude. Once the fans foster a belief, it will filter through to the players. We should be fearless, the players should train without shirts on and gloves should be banned during matches.

Survival isn't bloody good enough for us, we are coming for your souls!

Of course, we’d all be happy with survival and consolidation, for many seasons in the Premier League we struggled, some of those seasons we sank without a trace, some we stopped up, and then after circling the drain we fell down it.

But, I truly believe after many false hopes/dawns that we are at the start of a journey

A lot of people thought I was on a wind up in the OP, but I absolutely wasn’t. Always knew we had a shot at atleast one of them this season regardless of our survival chances. Now we have a great chance of progressing to the quarters.

Let’s not run before we’ve learned to walk.

It’s not been long since we first learned how to be a Premier League club. I don’t just mean a one season wonder. I mean a perennial long term club. Even then we are nowhere near the finished article. There is still so much work to do before we can officially say we have everything in place to survive two or more seasons. So much investment. So many more players of an even higher quality. So much homework to how to approach Premier League teams and what to expect from them tactics wise in a game. We are about 3-4 years and several million in player recruitment away from cementing a long future in the Premier League.

Let’s think about cups when we are good enough to stay up long enough to win one.

Not sure what any of that has to do with winning a cup.

It’s all future stuff. Admittedly most of it is true, it wouldn’t be influenced by the fact that in the here and now, we’ve got the chance to focus on trying to win a cup. We don’t need really worry about next year since we’re all but safe in the league so let’s go for it
