Should we ditch the red and white stripes?

I'd never be precious enough to be bothered about changing our colours. If it happened and it was smart I'd be all for it.

I love the Dortmund colours and it would means we could use black/grey seats which doesn't make the ground look as empty when we have a lower crowd.

you kidding, right??????

Well I've went since '59 and if they ever ditched the stripes that would be it for me.
Along with the fans they're the only good thing about us!

Keep them, there's so much tradition. For example Athletic Bilbao wear red and white because their clubs founder came from Sunderland. It's part of our identity. Agree they can change the SoL but the kit is who we are, our skin

Because they bought their shirts from Southampton you mean?, they played in blue and white originally..

Should change to black and white stripes so the made-up Black Cats nickname makes sense

There's a team in south america, who named themselves Sunderland & play i B&W stripes - they didnt know we played in R&W from the B&W photos they'd seen[DOUBLEPOST=1383993314][/DOUBLEPOST]

So did we... or Sunderland Athletic or whoever

I would be all for us to start wearing trousers instead of shorts, we would look smarter and less slovenly.

Will never have a decent looking kit if we have continue with the stripes. Considering a portion of you would sell the club to red bull, some of you must fancy this?

Yes. Red and white stripes aren't our original colour, and when it comes down to it, it's just colours at the end of the day. I think stripes are a hindrance... they're harder to see against the backdrop of a crowd than a solid colour is.

Case in point - when was the last time a team playing in stripes won the English top division? Now what's the ratio of non-stripes-to-stripes for total number of top division titles, cup wins, even total number of games won.

Our desire for "the tradational" (even though it's not our original colours) is holding us back. Just like religion. I want it gone.

While we're at it, we could change our name too?

Maybe Sunderland Stallions?

Summat like that? I mean, Ellis likes horses, right?

Or the Sunderland Studs?

I mean, we can' just sit back and see Hull getting all the new fans wanting to be tigers, can we?

Gotta move the the times, man!
:)
