Short Is Failing Us

didn't Henderson say at that time he didn't push for the transfer and would have stayed? the club should have kept him for a least a season or two, showed some ambtion. Instead they were happy to cash in on him and look where its got them. You seem to be arguing that we should be grateful to Short for where the club is at, and regardless of facts think he is doing a good job. You even resorting to wild specualtion that the club will be promoted in 2 seasons?

Possibly but after he was sold............even then he would have been gone sooner rather than later and we were only delaying the inevitable..............You can bang on about showing ambition all you want but the lads better than us period and whilst that's sad its also brutally honest.....

I am not arguing at all we should be grateful for Short for where the club is I am pointing out that without him it might not have been here after the mess the paddies left it in which hes been fire fighting ever since...........He isn't the carte blanche anti Christ folk like you paint him as ............

And its not " wild speculation" in the slightest its an opinion based on our history when we go down into that league............an opinion every bit as considered and valid as yours that he wont invest in the team to ensure we do come back up..............

I disagree with that but I haven't stooped to calling it " resorting to wild speculation"..............

two seasons is rather optimistic, looking at the likes of Wolves, Bolton, Blackburn, Middlesbrough even Leeds if you want to go that far, personally i think it will take a lot longer than that, it

ok, he words were contrived
the bottom line is his boots were filled with Vaughan (freebie), Larsson (freebie) and Gardner (spunked 6 million). All sanctioned by the Owners no doubt. And you think they are doing a good job.

Ellis Short sanctions the transfers now does he............?

I very much doubt it he makes the funds available and trusts the managers who are supposed to know what they are doing.

If it was made public that he sanctioned every individual transfer deal you would be up in arms about him interfering.........

t be honest mate does it really matter , its a farce making up the numbers its just about money

He sold;

Bent ,
Gyan,
Henderson ,
Mignolet,
Jones,
Sess,etc etc.
And let many others go due to wages not football ability.Understand the books need to be balanced but not with a git big chopping axe.
And we've cynically used the loan system to the point of destruction. I think that's a major reason for the antipathy we're experiencing nationally.

certainly does, personally i don't see where all of this overconfidence comes from what gives us the right to think we could do better than the rest in that division, people will say well look at our history, i would say yes look at our history its been ups and downs since 1996, surely we have come to a point now where the future is uncertain and there for we are unable to just think because we have done it before we can do it again, maybe we may have to get used to the championship long term, who knows i certainly can't see our problems being resolved in two years.

got zero faith in the players and not much confidence in the manager now

Gus's team selection tomorrow night will be interesting.

If his team selection is another mix of eccentricity and insanity I will be getting off the Gus bus at the next stop.

In a way I don't think he'd give a shit if the fans gave him a bit of stick. It would form part of his exit strategy which he is already implementing IMO

if he wants to go then why doesn't he just walk, who would blame him.

Money, money, money.

Plus a resume that reads..one premier league manager's jo,. one relegation, one throw in of the towel.

He is part of the circuit now. Wait to get fored, get three years pay for one year of work, take a two month break then get back on the merry go round.Plenty of his peers in the league can show him those ropes.

He might actually fancy the opportunity to rebuild from scratch and stamp his mark on the club. It's very unusual to be in this situation with so many players out of contract in one summer. It's a daunting situation to be in, but some managers would relish the opportunity to make such wholesale changes one transfer window.

Christ we're a fickle bunch................

Five weeks ago today he was the best thing since sliced bread. Now because it looks like were are going down hes to blame for everything going.

Most of us accepted we were probably going down when he turned up yet he somehow gave us unlikely hope. Now its ran out of steam its all his fault.

no all his fault but certainly not shy of the situation we are in

Just seems strange that a lot of were sure we were going down when he first game and that he had a thankless task.Yet having given us hope that looked very unlikely then now its going down the pan hes the villain of the piece.

The truth lies in between I suspect but had he kept us up doubtless the opinions of him would be at the polar opposite of the scale they are on now.

yes he did give us a chance the failure has been the urge in games v lesser sides , each and every one of those games panned out the same with a rigid pattern of play in each and every game , surely we had great opportunities to pick up enough points to keep in touch , we still have games where we should be winning but its looking like the lights have gone out at the SOL
