There shouldn't be a season 2, as the series ends where the book did.
Hopefully, they will make a series about the next book in the asian saga (chronologically), Tai-Pan, which thankfully does not feature John Blackthorne.

In that case I'm a bit disappointed with the ending. I was wanting to see if he becomes the shogun and maybe some epic battles. Do the other books follow toranaga's story?

No, but you can read up on the real life Toranaga - Tokugawa Ieyasu. (The book was loosely based on him).
