Can I ask why ? Why don’t you want success, why do we always have to wait for jam tomorrow.I'm not sure "fuck it, live for now" is the the best way to go about things. Entirely understandable under circumstances, but still, certainly not for me.

Do you wish the Saudis would buy us or do you think football is finished going down this route of highest bidder takes all?
You see the game isn't fair, and hasn't been for sometime, is all about logistics and who's got the most money, has been for decades now, the reason why any means necessary is the way to go is simple, unless we are happy to sit and watch newcastle, win a trophy, which is quite possible given the money they now have, we need to be spending the required amount to get out of the championship, and then get back in the premer league, and then get the required, funds to actually compete with the best. fair playing field doesn't exist at the top of the table of football.I do want success, of course I do, It just doesn't enter my thinking that it can be demanded, ever, why would it? I understand the will but not the entitlement?
I think it should be earned through a relatively fair playing field and or employing better strategy than the next club, not through any means necessary.

I wouldn’t want to be owned by the government of nations with questionable human rights records etc.
If we were to become Red Bull Sunderland or something I’d probably accept it as long as they didn’t change too much about us. Their main colours are red and white, and Salzburg had a red and white striped home kit a couple of years back so at least our kit would be safe!

Yet in the days to come when history is written if they are successful, the sliverware is all that will be remembered, just like manchester city and chelsea, you say doncaster, but i would of went for Wrexham. in the summer, they will be spending. i would think so.Only because the football authorities have allowed our game to become a Sports Washers playground
Nobody can convince me there is any glory in the mags selling their arses to the Saudis then winning anything simply by recycling their blood money - there is no achievement in that and football is supposed to be a sport.
If our strategy pays off and we build the club on the best youth development strategy, an effective talent identification network, cutting edge coaching and the occasional buy of the likes of LND then we will have achieved something worthwhile
And in the meantime I’m enjoying watching the lads try - even when we get beat - at least now they don’t just give up
Meanwhile it should not be beyond the wit of the FA to limit the resources a club has at its disposal to a link to how much they raise from fans and how much they earn from winning things…having some murderous dictator just come in and tip money into say Doncaster Rovers until they win everything reduces it to a bogus competition that eventually people will lose interest in

Agreed, it’s only maybe 2 to 3 years away for me. Still getting back in the premer league has to be the target of course. We'll see a world super league in the next few years anyway..
I remember getting promoted, stuffed by Arsenal in our first game and thinking, here we f***ing go back down.
And Kevin Ball got the team together on the pitch at the end, I always think that was why we did so well the next 2 seasons. It was Chelsea we got stuffed by (4-0 away) then beat Arsenal at home the following week with a change to 4-5-1.
That is exactly correct. However, think back to the last European League proposal? It was stopped by fans of Chelsea, Arsenal and Man Utd. They took a moral stand against it. It was fans saying we can stop this as it's wrong. The moral vacuum that is the Newcastle fanbase would welcome a European Super League with open arms. I am still amazed how there is zero uncomfortableness about their ownership. They contrast so clearly with those big club fans who stopped the Euro League.I think that the end game for the Saudis etc is pretty clear. Buy up major clubs from leading leagues. Make themselves powerful with EUFA
Take those clubs out of their leagues into some kind of permanent Champions league with no promotion or relegation, games played internationally, rather than at home grounds, key cup finals hosted in the middle east, all geared towards viewers on line and on TV
The question is whether these competitions will be meaningful to fans of clubs like Newcastle whose history, culture and values will be sacrifced
With Newcastle their owner was the worldwide pariah after having Khashoggi murdered so it really is on a different level. Maybe Putin will be looking to invest in a few years.I'd have given my left arm for red bull to have taken us on a couple of seasons ago given how desperate I was for some semblance of intelligent ownership. Since the Saudi stuff I've soured on it a little, as there does seem to be a point where a club stops being that club anymore.
I’m honestly at a point now where’s I don’t think I want us to get promoted.
We won’t ever break into the top 6 unless there are systemic changes in the football league system, and so I’m enjoying being one of the bigger fish in the pond that is the championship this season where we don’t desperately need to win and losing doesn’t ruin my weekend
I do want promotion but I want the club to grow through developing talent, We have seen what happens when you buy over-the-hill players looking for a last pay deal, I've never been so excited as I am now.People don’t want promotion. Why bother then?
