Admit mistakes by key personnel but assure that money can be made by buying SAFC. Saying "hi, I hear you want to buy Sunderland, well let me tell you, the people at the club are shit, the fans are shit and the infrastructure is shit" probably isn't the best way to go about doing it!

I get ya point however It depends on the context of the interview, if the interview was given in an anecdotal way he could have quite easily said those things as he thought it wasn't going to get out into the mainstream...

But the bloke says he's been saying it in meetings with potential buyers, not in an interview. I can't imagine why he'd meet potential buyers of a company he is desperate to get shot of for as high a fee as possible and talk just about every aspect of it down!

I think in running a football club he's been very naive and not fully understanding of the difficulty of it. He's clearly not a thick bloke though imo. You do not become that rich and successful by being thick.

You could be right marra however, Donald Trump is the leader of the most powerful country in the world yet he seems thick as mince and has repeatedly said things that other people find ridiculous... so nowt surprises me anymore...

You might hope that’s what is happening marra but I’m a long way off convinced that’s the case.
 
I've said all along that if you go to the match you, if you don't that's your choice. There's no need to wear either as a badge, or use it to have a go at the other's choice. The fans that have refused to come back however fall into two categories imo. Good supporters who have have spent money and have simply had enough. These supporters will return when things change. However like it or not there is people who were only going as they got free tickets. These have been stopped so these people have stopped going. It wouldn't surprise me if these are on here having a go at others for not going and not protesting.

He’s spending a fortune on something he doesn’t want anymore? You realise how odd that sounds? He clearly doesn’t care about the club or seemingly the people who do care about it. Why would he spend any money on it at all. Why not just rip out and sell anything worth anything and get as much of his money back as possible, before tossing it away like the piece of garbage he clearly considers it to be.

Maybe he’s quite happy with the situation, maybe he’s not done stripping assets, maybe there are alternative reasons for the state he’s allowed us to get in, ulterior motives if you will........maybe it’s all a conspiracy

Maybe he feels that spending this money now will help him get more back later. If it goes into administration he'll likely end up with nothing. He can't sell things to pay himself back either, they money has to go to SBC first so, whilst that loan is there, it isn't really an option. Plus if he did that (just let the club die on his watch) it would massively affect his reputation which could impact on his other businesses. His best bet is to fund in the short term whilst slashing costs so that the losses stop, assisted by the parachute payments, and he can sell

He is deff not the brightest like. In an interview when asked what does he say to those people that say he isnt modest - he replied with something along the lines of 'oh im the most modestest person in the world' .... bloke is clearly not the brightest spark.

That said he inherited his fortune, so he didnt really build it like you originally stated 'i took a small loan of 2m off my father'

Maybe. Or maybe that isn’t the case at all.

He hasn’t worried enough about how us sliding into this mess affects his reputation to do anything to stop it, so I’m not sure letting the club die (not that I think it ever will) would be much of a concern either.
