Because a) it takes people twice as long to take things off the shelves and they stand there dithering about when you’re trying to get past them to the Loo Bloo and b) they invariably get stopped for a bag check and have to have every item unpacked and rescanned, making you wait 5 minutes when all you wanted was your bottle of wine approved.

Use a normal manned checkout instead of self service, and you won’t have this problem.

I’ve vowed to start to use greengrocers again. Sainsbury’s is expensive for fruit and veg, Lidl’s goes off by the time you’ve left the car park.

What’s the 5 mins for? If you’re loading straight into your bags then it should take no time.

Well they can piss off anyway. I used it once and kept throwing things into the trolley without scanning them anyway.

Pick up two scanners and scan half with one and the other half with the other. If you get pulled, tell them you’re buying stuff for you and an elderly relative on separate cards. If you don’t get pulled, you’re quids in??
