Saudi Arabia 2030

It will be interesting to see what the Mexican govt do about the cartels ahead of the tournament. For the last 15 years or so, their influence has been growing in the capital.

As it’s a perfect opportunity to launder money, they might behave and actually help the Govt to stop petty crime etc
It’ll also be an unparalleled opportunity to string up some headless corpses from highway overpasses if they would like to make a point about however the parts of the government they don’t own are treating them then. Guadalajara should be especially spicy given that it’s the home base of the CJNG, the biggest cartel in the country.

I hadn’t realised that Hank, I went 30 years ago, it was an amazing city, even got to have a kick about on the pitch at the Azteca

It looks amazing mate; but yeah, sadly the cartels are there. I suspect they will agree something behind the scenes to ensure things pass without issue though

Qatar isn't a vile place

It certainly isn’t. I’m there now and we’ve had a brilliant time

It’s been very safe, loads to do and great fun. Every hotel in Doha has 3 or 4 different bars and the quality is fantastic, including numerous rooftop bars with superb views.

It’s been an eclectic mix of people, we’ve mixed with people from dozens of countries and it’s all been good humoured fun, as it should be.

We’ve had times when we’ve had a right good drink and other days (the match days when we haven’t bothered as we wanted to have clear heads to enjoy the football).

Last Friday we went to a brunch event at the Westin hotel in town. We had an outside table next to the pool and dance floor and had the best time. Again the mix of people was great and included several very openly gay people, who danced and had fun with all of the other guests with no issues at all. Everyone there had loads to drink and partied away, class
On another night we went to see Fat Joe and again there was a great mix of people there. We got chatting to some locals who were downing plenty drinks and we had a great laugh with them

My findings are that there’s been a whole lot of crap spouted about Doha and Qatar, believe me it’s brilliant. Party town

Much much safer than a night out in the U.K., no arseholes looking for trouble.

Well done to the hosts, brilliant job!

I wasn’t there but from my view it looks like they’ve put on a trouble free, fantastic spectacle of the game.
Each to their own but I’ve thoroughly enjoyed it.
Apparently Hitler and Mussolini had trains running on time. I didn't watch any of the World Cup but I accept they probably did a brilliant job. I'm happy that people enjoyed it but I couldn't stomach it. I've lost any joy because of fan behaviour at previous tournaments but if we can only stage successful tournaments in states like Qatar I'd be happy scrapping international football completely.

It's amazing how many dimwits have fallen for the Western media's stance. Glad you're having a great time.

My problem with Qatar is the way the migrant workers have been treated. Pay them properly and look after them FFS!

When people call Qatar a vile place they are not talking about the hotels or the fancy western resorts being shit man ffs

Yeah if you're if a wealthy westerner (relative to the dirt poor Bangladeshis and Pakistanis that work there) then yeah I'm sure it's a great party

I take it you aren't gay?
The gay thing appears to be a myth. We have seen plenty of openly gay people at games, in the mall, in bars. It’s just not an issue as far as I can see
OK mate. Are you David Beckham?

I'd tend to think of it being ruled by a vile regime rather than being a vile place. See also Saudi Arabia, Iran, North Korea, Ipswich.
