Sam Fender

Cos he’s probably got some sort of contract with the Saudis if rumours are to be believed.
Funny how he was being interviewed ‘hungover’ the day after the Saudi takeover despite not really showing any love for them beforehand. Another thing is why the fuck would an apparent leftie song writer celebrate despotic fuckers taking over the club he ‘loves’ knowing full well what their record is on human rights. He’s a fuckíng shithouse hypocrite and 100% in their pockets. He’s been promoted as a professional mag from day one of the Saudis walking into the building. He’s part of the sports washing bollocks and shame on anyone turning up to one of his pro mag/Saudi wankfests.

They for free advertised him and his new album on last seasons shirt. It wouldn’t surprise me if he was asked if he would do these gigs by the owners. They’ve obviously seen a huge opportunity here with him and used him to promote their agenda. It has worked a treat. They’re trying to build a Disneyland type situation and anyone with any power in the north east has bent over backwards to let them. It’s too late to reverse now. It’ll get worse.

Nailed it, this is exactly whats happening. They've even started to turn some of our lot which shows how successful its all been. Awful.

Sunderland fans on social media defending themselves going to it. Calling others morons for not being able to separate football and music. Just incredible.

'Your da went to see Sam Fender' should be a put down in Sunderland schools.

There has always (as long as I can remember anyway) been a crossover. People have always been aware of who artists as bands support. That’s fine. What is different here is the crowd. The crowd (Mags) have decided that his gigs should be about football. This does not and has not ever happened on this scale before. No other artist in the history of music has performed to so many people wearing football tops and waving flags. They have decided he is for them and them only. They are mental. Quite how any Sunderland fan can go to SJP to watch him is beyond me. I’d rather I’d rather get a prostate tickle from Freddie Krueger.
Can't recall seeing a mag top when the Stones, Bruce and Queen played SJP early and mid 80s. All brilliant gigs, and all well attended.

Don’t know if true or otherwise, but he was definitely a frequent guest of Staveley and Co a few years ago on match days. My lad had a part time job there and served him.

In a few years, when his albums have dried up and his popularity has dissipated, when he can no longer afford the snowy heights he once climbed (allegedly) he will look back and think, why the fuck did i alienate thousands of people who could have bought my music to get a few cheap laughs…

Might be a clever move. His music is shite, so might've only attracted a few from both sides. Now he's got every single black and white knacker coming along so greater numbers in total, easily. If he'd not played the Geordie messiah role he's not getting close to three sell out shows up here.

This. Plus he can slag off Sunderland but it still doesn't stop many of our fans going to his gigs. They must be the sort who are into being a sub in BDSM.
