Ahead of the 2026-27 season, we will be extending and enhancing the safe standing provision across the Stadium of Light.

Following feedback from the Sports Grounds Safety Authority, alongside results from our 2024-25 supporter survey, we are introducing additional rail seating in areas where supporters regularly stand without safety rails.

Looking at the link it mentions these blocks are safe standing
Safe standing blocks are:
1. Block U14
2. Block U37
3. Block U38
4. Block U39
5. Block U40
6. Block U15
7. Block U16
8. Block U17

Do we think all seats in these blocks will be safe standing now?

Why not? Of course it should have, it's quite a big change without giving clear notice. Some people will find it difficult to stand for 90 minutes every week. It should have been made clearer IMO.

I know the majority stand in those areas now already. But some people might still buy a ticket on the assumption that it's still a seating area.

Well yes but they then have to move

Ya can’t not change it to standing for the sake of a few bores

They need to change the entire north stand to standing also as well as the rest of the south round to the south east corner, lower tier anarl. Thats when the atmosphere will change

I don't disagree with that. But they could renew their season ticket in the mistaken belief that it's still a seating area. Unless their emails have some indication within it that their seat will be changed to safe standing then fair enough. Mine isn't it one of those blocks , so not sure.
 
I’m in U17 and the second row up with my 9 year old daughter , we don’t stand up and neither do the people in front or around us , mostly the people towards the back do , does anyone actually know if its the whole block of just the rows towards the back as it is in the south stand currently ?

If it’s the whole block I’d be quite pissed off as I will have to look for somewhere else to sit. As my daughter won’t stand all game.

If you read the document I linked above, it reads as if it's the whole blocks.
