My totally unfounded opinion is if they weren't prepared to watch Rochdale they wouldn't be buying us.

That's why I think it's more of a smart, medium term plan. With FFP it's hard to buy success at the moment.

It probably says a lot about how boring I am in real life but I'm more excited about smart fellas with a plan than simply tossing money at it.

Unless we toss money at it of course. Then I will get a shirt with Kane on the back and forget I don't particularly rate the Jimmy Hill lookalike.
To get out of this league they could toss 10m at it if they wanted (ffp aside) and it would be like me or you buying a fudge.

Can’t be long now surely!

SD said one or two weeks away last Friday. One week down tomorrow......

Haven't been on this thread for a few days but reading the last 10 pages or so few points to pick up on...I'm a bit uneducated on Major League Baseball regarding the Miami Marlins but I think its divided into Areas of the U.S. and Canada, thats how the league formats are made up...no relegation or promotion just playing for divisional title, play-off and world title (I think)...must be pretty sterile and mundane to be honest but its a notch on thier bed post for having a Baseball team in their portfolio which is what they all grew up with...In comparison in the English Leagues as we know the better you are, the higher up the leagues you go and the more exposure on a world stage you get...up to the pinnacle of European competition which is now the most lucrative sporting coverage in the World as well as the Premier League. If and when the Americans buy into Sunderland I would think this has got to be in their business plan otherwise whats the point of investing??

My second point is that I picked up on a post suggesting Sunderland take the training facility down to London....How dare it even be thought of imo...Wheres the local talent going to train and come from? Who do you support then? London Sunderland? What connection does the club have with the people that support it then? Why should we pander to footballers who only want to shop in London...You come to play for the people and the club of Sunderland...you don't want to play for that then you don't play for the richest club in world football! (well apart from PSG)

Don't buy that at all. The AOL is hardly in the hood. If a player is too sensitive to a couple of degrees then they aren't going to fancy a cold night match in November.

If a player is too soft for Sunderland then good riddance. Don't chuck another 10 grand a week at him and beg him to come.

I'm with you on this. I'd also add success is a big draw too. Once we climb the league's players will want to play for us. As long as we're not ran in the same way Short did.

Good point, I’m sure i heard the transparency word when Donald took over, but as others have mentioned where’s this parachute payment gone? What you’re saying is they don’t have to answer to anyone is that it?
They are certainly not obliged to reveal anything to the public. The club is not a PLC.

Agreed.
I said to my sons when talk of this takeover first arose that if we got the deal done then it was likely to be the start of something unprecedented at our club as fellas as wealthy as these aren’t going to get involved to play at it.
Good times ahead if we get it done, hopefully we’ll be sorted in the next week or so and then it’s onward and upward.
Or alternatively it could be businessmen buying an asset at its lowest value to sell on when its value rises

To be fair, they are taking their time to decide whether to buy 4 bits of fudge; it suggests they might be measured in terms of spending if it all goes through. Hope I’m wrong mind and that they go at it like the proverbial kid in a candy store.

Not obliged no, but if that is how they are playing it then be honest, dont talk about being open and that the fans are of the upmost importance. It's our club apparently, they're just the custodians.

It's FFP that will be the problem. I'm concerned about it though. Aside from being loaded these are some seriously clever blokes. My pure guess is they'll find ways to increase our revenue.

Not that I'd complain if they found a way to inject 500 million in straight away.

If you have severel billion pounds, what would be the point in investing tens or hundreds of millions over a few years just to make a few million IF you are successful. Pocket change to these people it just doesn't make sense. If and when it happens I think they'll be in it to enhance their reputation across the world imho

These lads' remit is growing their wealth through prudent investment . No track record with any sports franchises and no indication of a vanity project to disrupt what is a very mature soccer market.

Got to take a chance though or we’ll be stuck in league one, don’t think Donald has the finances for the championship, you make a vault point though
