Tbh I am most definitely NOT in the know, so the takeover may still be in progress... but slowly?
My doubts arise in that I cannot think there are too many more nasties, financial messes, etc that Donald and co did not uncover themselves and could not pass on to Dell, so I struggle to see what the hold up is... NI customs border or football equivalent?

Can't be Shorty cleared the debt, repeat to fade....

I think that Kevin Ball and Elliott Dickman are two that spring to mind, further, probably Bennett ,Montgomery even Gabbiadini to an extent just by having players under his company signed to the club.. and a few others who have hung around for too long that have influenced the owners and former managers..
None of them work on the commercial side of the club though. The club needs to build this up again. Links with businesses, selling boxes and corporate, Sponsorship and partnerships. Methven has said from day one it was pretty much nonexistent when he came in. I expect an appointment with experience and contacts in the North east and in Sunderland in particular.

The thing that has me worried is every take over of a football club in this country and other country's by Americans is publicity they thrive on it and all we get is silence I am getting ready for the kick in the bollocks that us Sunderland fans are used too..

aye the Glaziers, Randy Lerner and Ellis Short just never stopped seeking the headlines did they

we complained because Short wasn’t accessible enough not because he was a publicity whore. If anything, its British owners who follow that route

Are you saying that Samson is not that person (or cat)?

well he's on the boldon branch's coach for the Lincoln trip that should be fun
Jesus! I remember going to bury with the boldon branch when I was just a 19 year old pup. I'd only ever gone away with the Aycliffe branch before and while they liked a drink they would keep it to whatever establishment they had booked into. The boldon bus was a real eye opener

Aye mate your right, but its the influence, and are some that can wield the clout albeit in a advisory capacity, on all things Sunderland that new people coming into the club know nothing about. The likes of Ball and Dickman etc have, I'm pretty sure, have been used as sounding boards and fountains of knowledge on all things Sunderland and thereby is the problem.. It might be the past six or seven managers have used their combined knowledge when they were appointed but it hasn't worked for whatever reason. ...

The Commercial side ,as you state, can only be repaired by bringing in top PR and commercial staff, is one aspect of how the club have cut the cloth these past five years or so. My main criticism of those i mentioned that ,yes by all means have old timers around doing as you say the media work ,corporate & sponsorship side of the business but in the club ambassadors role, a sort of link up between those running the club and part timers. I've no doubt that once this takeover has been announced formally, these departments will have been rejigged or about to be altered to suit the now approach moving the club forward to achieve maximum exposure leading to profitability on the none playing side of the business.

Its got the point though where people are moaning about abuse over anything. Just my opinion but the forum is becoming worse because of it, far to many playing the victim. Maybe I'm a bit different to everyone else but I just take the name calling and brush it off, it's part of what made this place great. You'd get called a name (and dish it out) then start debating and joking again with the poster who was giving you a bit stick
It's unreal that some are posting the crap they do but I guess that's the people they are and some may even get a kick out of it. It's clear to the masses on here some love to poke and poke at the stuff Reiver/Grumpy Old Man post and then when others finally reply in a way they're after you even see others trying to defend their actions. Now we're even seeing that some think these provoked replies are bullying

It's as if they've either have been bullied themselves in real life and see things on here as bullying yet haven't a f***ing clue what bullying is really like. Thankfully I don't as I've never been bullied or bullied anyone and from what I've seen nobody has been bullied on here so I wouldn't be using the word. The fact is some come on here and then keep bleating on and on and having digs at Reiver and Grumpy Old man yet when people reply they're bullies? Do some on here not see what is going on and how the posts are . I can't be arsed to link to examples but it's clear to see just by looking back as to when a poster will have started a particular mini disucssion and then the select few jump in or like their posts. It's as if they thrive on trying to pick at things they can't really pick at but sadly this isn't the only forum in the world that it happens on, it's happens on just about every forum.

So OK we get it, in fact we got it in the last takeover thread numerous times that a select few can't believe Reiver or even Grumpy Old Man can't get any 'inside' info as can nobody else!:lol: Anyway its good to see it's back to the takeover shit (posts been snipped and users banned from thread?) and the monorail as I'd like to know how good it is at stopping when it's icy!
