Russia invading Ukraine (NEWS/UPDATES)

Yellow armbands signify that they're civilians fighting as part of the Ukraine army. It appears these people were using it as a disguise when as acting as saboteurs.

One of them shot and killed which suggests they were saboteurs and not looters. Also there was about a dozen of them which also suggests they weren't looters.

If anyone is interested, Tatiana is going to start writing a bit about what it’s like living in Kiev at the moment….she wants as many people as possible to know what’s going on first hand.

Will post it as soon as she’s sent it over, not sure on timescales, she’s just got to the bomb shelter not long ago

I wonder how many times we'd hear "I'm not fighting for that Tory govt/ Brexit supporters/ that sewer"?
I'm sure those that hadn't the heart for a fight would always find some self- justification
There might also be a load of statue protectors /anti-woke / flag shaggers who just melt away into the shadows...

For balance of course 😉

All of those that keep on mentioning the war can take the younger peoples places.

Whenever something happens in Britain they go on about the Blitz spirit so they might aswell back up their bullshit with actions
It was a fair comment
Would the Uk re-act the same way as they did the last time we were in a similar situation?

There might be.
There again....I would suggest those that hold the country in contempt would be most likely to hide?

So you would immediately bend over and surrender?

I'm in my 70s and can't remember any blitz spirit but I would willingly take up arms if that happened here.

I'd like to think they would step up if needed so desperately.... I'd love to think it actually

Can someone explain the significance and consequence of Ukraine joining the EU?

Article 5 pertains to NATO iirc, so what does joining the EU achieve short term for Ukraine?

Also has Ukraine wanted to join the EU or has the EU wanted Ukraine to join in the past or would it be that both sides flirted with NATO membership?
They had a bit of a "flirt" with each other around the time of Crimea, when they basically sounded out Klitchko. The anti EU press will blame them for contributing to the crisis whereas the pro EU press won't hear any of it.

Hopefully the article below is less biased one way or another. The article is from 2016 so long before current events.

Tbf, he has a point, it’s an unpopular truth but it would be much easier if Ukraine let Russia take what they wanted and then fought back at a later date by other means….and he’s also right about Ukraine being corrupt, I’ve mentioned this a few times but again, it goes against the rhetoric on here….for once, the US seem to have it right
