Russia invading Ukraine (NEWS/UPDATES)

Saw that earlier. Made my blood run cold. I've just finished putting my 2 and a half year old daughter to bed, a right fight from her to go down. I feel lucky to get to have that struggle tonight. It's made me all chocked up again seeing her poor little body :(

Nothing in life can prepare a human for having to deal with something like that.

Ah. Yes. I thought you were implying this was somehow other than him wanting to take over Ukraine or somehow it being okay or reasonable for him to do som. There are multiple reasons for that, of course, but resources are a big one.
I hope that he is arrested and given to Uysk to use as a punch bag. I just don't like how under reported this aspect of the conflict is in UK media. We have no legitimacy in criticizing a war for oil so it just doesn't get mentioned.

A hopefully hypothetical question….it turns out Putin is serious about launching a nuclear missile into the North Sea, the only way he worn do it is if Ukraine surrender….what’s everyone’s stance on that? Urge Ukraine to surrender or keep on fighting and go nuclear?

Nice win for the Ukrainians. Taken out far more in one go then targeting individual trucks. Possibly caused even more havoc if they have damaged the rails permanently

Where do yous think the safest place in the U.K. will be if he hoyed a cheeky nuke over once he got bored of killing innocent Ukrainians?

If and when this sorry mess is over and Russia achieve some kind of regime change there needs to be a commitment made by all nations for nuclear disarmament. I think the impact of economic sanctions could become the weapon of choice in a better world.

For the record, I know this will never happen.

I’d support that, but I suspect the American’s would be the hardest to persuade.

The bloke has completely lost the plot. If you think there is 0% chance of a nuke going up then you have not been paying attention.

It’s not down to him. The order would have to pass through and be implemented by countless others. People who have families and won’t like the idea of the retaliation that would come.

If he actually tried to give the order, it would be the end of him.

Oil, quality agricultural land, security over gas shipment routes… I mean, who needs NordStream 2-5 or whatever if you can just do it across land?

We're being bombarded at the moment with propaganda stories of Ukrainian heroism, Putin is unhinged, Russia is losing etc but the truth is that Russia is more than capable of getting its own way and killing thousands of people - people seem to have lost sight of that. They've fought this war with kid gloves on so far (relatively speaking).

This whole conflict is completely stupid and will probably end when Ukraine agrees not to join NATO, which is a sensible compromise that could have been reached a long time ago before all this stupidity and loss of life.

Keep fighting and assume someone with sense will take him out

Do we have the defensive capability to intercept any? I wouldn’t expect we could stop 6,000, but could we stop 1?
He doesn't have 6000 nuclear missiles, they have 6000+ nuclear weapons, that's bombs, missiles, torpedos etc etc. A lot of the missiles will have multiple independent re-entry vehicles on them (MIRVs) so one missile may carry 6 warheads for example.

As for intercepting them, probably not.
