A cold, clear admission of the mechanics and aims of Russian state propaganda by one of their main TV hosts (she's the one who said Russia should have nuked Queen Elizabeth's funeral). According to her, you can look at the bombing of Kharkiv two ways. The Ukrainian 'attitude' is that it's Russian aggression. The Russians belief is that they're creating a 'sanitary zone'. Good Russians should believe the latter, she says, even if they know it's not true.

That's plain daft. Britain fought in both wars for years before the Americans entered, and then they only entered out of duress, certainly not out of kindness. Ffs if the Americans could have had their way rather than being forced into it half the world might well be nazi now

When i lived in the US . PBS TV showed a very interesting program. Totally unaware to me. G.Britain/Churchill was blackmailed by Roosevelt to get the lend lease munitions agreement through. On condition that the Commonwealth must shrink .Or GB would lose without help.Made sense afterwards ,the deal was the GB had to slim down the Commonwealth ! That's why after WW2 ended lot's of the British Empire countries got their independence . Apparently the USA thought GB with the Commonwealth would be too powerful after WW2 .

Wasn't one of the conditions also that the dollar replaced sterling as the worlds reserve currency thus helping the states even more? Or was that just a consequence of the reduced Commonwealth?

TL;DW? The economic boom is being driven by companies manufacturing consumables for the war effort paid for by the state. When the war ends they will struggle to revert back to their previous capabilities and this is likely to trigger an enormous recession without more state support. And they'll be pink lint.

The UK were repaying the Americans for many years after WW2 (Marshall plan).
I'm pretty sure your statement is correct.
