Running Thread 2026

Shame that mate. Doubt you’d lose a load of fitness over four weeks but if you’re not feeling it then you’re making the right call.
Cardio goes quickly, my mileage has halved in the last 4 weeks and I'm already slowing. Ran a 43:40 just before the issues started and only managed to huff and puff to a little over 45mins on Sunday, that's with race day adrenaline as well. I'm still on the fence about Hartlepool HM next Sunday tbh but I know with that I can just decide on the day.

Gunna see a physio after pay day, and get a month's pass to the leisure centre so I can hammer the elliptical and swim just to keep general fitness up.

Kev at Seaham (Stride) is the boyo - proper gent as well.
Think if you log onto Strava desktop site you can click on the activity and get it to amend or recalculate the distance

Pics are up from Sunderland 10k
Can ya?! My Park runs are usually around 4.97km so my 5k times in the Best efforts section never includes them. Can't find how you recalc the distance on the app or desktop however
"Usually" is a complete lie mind, literally only once has it happened but it was my last on which was an OK time so I'm still seething

Cheers seen him be mentioned a bit on here so might go to him, bout 15mins up the road for me. Aye never done it myself but you can just log on to Strava on the computer, go to the activity click the 3 dots icon and there is supposed to be a 'Correct Distance' or 'Recalculate Distance' option

Wow - never knew that! However, I also wish I never ever knew. It has now recalculated my two best 5ks to a slower time - 18:23 has become 18:28 and 18:28 to 18:30. Sickening!

Volunteered at Clive Cookson 10k last night in Monkseaton last night as its my clubs race.

Not the best route but still sold out and good turn out. Wind seemed to pick up for the race too.

Someone from Sunderland Harriers was in 2nd place when they passed me with a 1km to go.

Seemed to be a big contingent from Elvet as well....

Yeh, Stephen Jackson runs for the Harriers.

Started off with Elvet Striders then moved on to the Harriers.

Excellent runner given that he only started properly around 12 years ago.

Would anyone like my entry to the Hartlepool HM next Sunday, free of charge?

The email says I can't defer or transfer to another event but I can change the name that's on the entry, I have until Wednesday to do so.

Just been out for a run today and while my knee wasn't that painful, it just felt unstable and awkward and like I was trying to overcompensate with the other leg. Seems daft to keep carrying on for no real reason.

Should hopefully get booked into a physio within the week and start to get it sorted 🤞

Is this still available mate? Been on the waiting list with them for a few weeks but heard nothing back so would definitely take this if it’s still going

What a gent.

Had a tough session on Wednesday and now the arch of my foot is in bits. Really hoping it’s not what it feels like! Less painful this morning after stretching and ice but it doesn’t feel great.

I am the Ledley King of running.

Plantar Fascitis? Got that after I very first got into running, I was just running in my 5 aside trainers at the time haha.

Booked in to see Kev on Monday, came across really well on the phone like hoping for a speedy resolution.

I’m hoping it’s just after effects of tough training on Wednesday. It’s better today, couldn’t put weight on it yesterday and it did worry me. Another day off today and have a light 10k to test tomorrow I think.

Kev is class. Great physio and even better bloke.

Does anyone know if the gnr memberships go on sale every year? Missed out on both ballots (sickener) and remembered last year said it was for 2026 and 2027. Do they open a new membership for 2027 and 2028 or will I have to wait even longer? Cant find anything.

A few lads and lasses i know have gone up to do the Edinburgh Marathon Festival this weekend, anyone doing that one?

Aye I’m there now. Doing the half in morning. Did it last year as well, it’s a beauty of a route.
Weather forecast is for scorchio
Few cold beers and a haggis pizza afterwards if all goes to plan
