Clearly not going to be Keane now. I’m not going to make a grand statement that I won’t be going back as it simply isn’t true, but I’ll definitely have a few weeks break from the club as it’s not contributing to a positive weekend at the moment

The way our stock is plummeting, I think names like Lennon and McCann are way off.

“MLFs after much deliberation, one candidate stood out from the others. His excellent cv, knowledge of the game and expansive play style meant we had no option but to pick up his contract before anyone got in first.

I’m sure you will all welcome Mr Gary Megson as head coach.

K Speakman”

It’s hardly the end of the world though is it? It’s a just fecking 3rd tier football team. Is your life really going to change if we don’t get promoted again this season?

I’d probably see the news again in May, roll my eyes and nothing would change in the real world. Poor people would continue to be cold and hungry. Putin would continue to threaten our luxury of peacetime. China will still invade Taiwan. Rich people will get richer. Poor people will continue to struggle. Crime will continue and 5% of the population will continue to do 95% of the voluntary work:

Life goes on whether we win or lose our next match. It is a huge over reaction.in the scheme of things why is anybody really bothered?
There's certainly more important thinks in the world but as this is a football web site it's the sort of thing that tends to dominate the conversation. It doesn't mean that it is the only concern or interest that people have.

I am often struck how often people on here reach out for help and support at some troubled or difficult time in their lives and how lots of good and undertstading people respond to them. The football can be a welcome distraction too. At least we all know that none of us is alone in having to struggle with current disappointments of our football team.

The Bristol City fan has a point and most of us will have reservations on Keane but there are two reasons we’re behind him. One is the state of the club and he more than anyone else lifted the standards last time he came in, and those standards have eroded ever since. Secondly the alternatives are just horrific.

Maybe the right man for Sunderland is someone we just haven’t heard of yet. Maybe there is a young version of Klopp out there waiting to be unearthed. A really good DoF is needed to find such talent

Jeez man, I didn't think I could get any lower.

If Man City don’t tell Speakman then he won’t know. Also, if he was any good, he would work there.

Why do you think that ?
Hasn’t been a manager for a very long time, isn’t a ‘modern’ footballer (especially when it comes to man management), done nothing of note at Ipswich.

He had one (arguably two) good season with your lot as far as I’m aware, and fell out with everyone from the FA to FIFA.

I don’t see him being the man to build a modern football club around in any way.

Given Methven thought Parkinson was a good manager and he appears to have the ear of the owner/front man or whatever he is, then we should be worried.
He’s the Humphrey Appleby to Jim Hacker
I just wish when Johnson had been sacked Alex Neill had been announced the following day. hes a good manager and knows his stuff. Other clubs seem to do this - Wilder was in straightaway after Warnock and yet this has killed our season.
This is Sunderland man you shouldn’t be surprised

Surely by 1000 pages we’re gonna get a press conference to get excited about……doing my head in days and days of expectation
