My take is (and only my opinion), it was agreed after last Friday's meeting but then Speakman did his interview, probably to look like the club were still in control of things and doing due diligence, but knowing a deal was done. Maybe no malice intended but it had the opposite effect as intended as it upset Keane's camp who suddenly thought "what the fuck's going on I thought we had an agreement?". In turn things have had to be smoothed over which may not have been easy and maybe close to collapsing so the club have had to put a plan B back into action which had originally been 'stood down'.
Hopefully things with the Keane camp have been smoothed over and back on track.
KLD is the money and the final decision making power at the club ...speakman will only be allowed to execute his decisions

Kld is getting off extremely light imho

Psychometric tests between Keane, Lennon, Neil and McCann at 9am.

Words typed per minute test coming up at 10am.

Group problem-solving presentation at 10:30am.

This will reduce the shortlist to 2 and further interviews will take place later in the week.
They will be breaks together and they will be observed how they interact and get on.

I think he’ll be appointed but attractive emotionally though it is I’m far from convinced it’s the right decision. Similar to Defoe, I love him and think he can be useful but it would probably have been better in many ways to get like for like competition for Stewart.
Keane and Defoe are box office and have a clear allure but I think they are more emotional than pragmatic. Because of their previous quality they are worth a gamble but we shouldn’t kid ourselves that either guarantee anything other than media coverage and bigger gates for a while.
Dont agree,I think people underestimate the effect of psychology and the momentum in sport in general.GET HIM IN

I’m living in hope that the plan is to announce it at some point today, giving the players a lift before tonight’s game with Keane in the crowd. Though I think I said the same about Saturday.

That took so long because they needed to get rejected by the 10 people they wanted before him. We seemingly have lots of interest and we are choosing the right candidate on what the club think the people interviewed will do. Not the first person to actually agree to work here
Yeah they had to get the right man who "gets them" and had a nephew who was also mint

If that was the case as of Saturday, he should have just said 'No further comment, we hope to be in a position to give an update to you next week'. Simple.

It's unsettled us as a fanbase and potentially (but hopefully hasn't) rattled Keane's side.

Speakman certainly put himself needlessly into the firing line with such a placid interview 30 mins before a game. Especially given it was a week after a 0-6 hammering. A home defeat to the bottom side to kill off our automatic hopes only compounded it.

Genuinely bet they wish they hadn’t delivered it now, or maybe delivered it in a different way. Very naive

Wonder if we are any closer yet to the third round of interviews. Will have a sponsor for the competition soon. Needs to be something with integrity and something the kids can get on board with. Cannabis oil brand, maybe?

We can get Harry Redknapp to pull balls outs at half time tonight.

Be happy if he was announced 5 minutes before kick-off and immediately took charge of tonight's game.
After Saturday when the team played exactly as it had under Johnson, it is obvious to me that no-one has been charge of these players match day for a long time.
