The personal interview part should be just to make sure they can work together, on both sides. Anyone can bullshit an interview..

Surely they’ve got to focus on past records of the coaches pure and simple, plus they must be doubting themselves as a recruitment team having got the last one wrong, Speakman is now massively under pressure himself with this appointment which adds a different flavour to last time.

Appointing Johnson as a coach to implement philosophy was a bit of a woolly statement. He might have been good on the training ground but was pretty woeful in-game and tactically…

Plus, we’re not up against masterminds each week - the teams that have tonked us have just been physical and wanted it more, bullying the opposition isn’t tactical.

Keane is surely on par if not in advance of any current coach in league 1… the standard is not exactly high..

My only worry is can he instill an aggression, desire, confidence in this current squad of players or is that where the limitation lies..

Either way, he is certainly the best of a bad bunch of candidates.

In recent years you are right, but keanes achieved more in his managerial career than McCann like

By quite a bit
One promotion each, play offs for McCann. I'm not saying I'm totally behind McCann or want him over Keane but I think some are going way over the top regarding both options.

If he still does that match tonight then ITV will have a few thousand more viewers. All of us watching for a wink or a smile at the mention of safc. It will be hell on here this evening. 'I saw him look the left when asked about it, which indicates to me that it's Donald who is blocking this'
Yep. Suddenly some ITK will appear who is an expert on reading blinking language used with those who have locked in syndrome, to tell us that whilst he was talking about Ronaldo’s first half performance, Keane blinked the phrase “I’ve signed an 18-month contract, I’ll be bringing my mate Micky Phelan with me, the family are moving north tonight, Defoe will be coming on tomorrow after 67 minutes as he’s as fit as a fiddle, and if you don’t stop asking me about the prancing Portuguese pillock, then I’m going to knack you one!”.

What would that change? There'd still be a massive backlash when he's appointed. How would people see four months into the future and know he's about to get us promoted?
A backlash in what sense, moaning on social media or people stop attending and actively want him out?

Football is based on human nature and that never changes so I don’t agree.
what has chaned is how players expect to be treated now..the days of the hairdryer treatment is gone.
management has also changed because managers dont do transfers now, they did when keano was last atround.
tactically football has radically changed since 2007 as well.
