I have similar reservations to you. But on the budget/recruitment point, Keane wouldn’t be the only one picking the players. Speakman has spoken a lot about getting the right mental profile of player in. So if Keane is being offered shortlists of players for positions, one would hope the players are going to be tough and react well to Keane’s style. It’s up to the recruitment team to find good fits for the club, and that includes fitting with the Head Coach
I'd imagine that RK would welcome some help in this regard given the exasperation he felt constantly with the WAG culture. TBH RK may even be impressed with our recruitment model given the mixture of very promising youth team promotions, astute loans and killer acquisitions like Stewart and the unknown but highly rated Matete.

During my 24 years in the forces I had some absolutely horrific officers(rodneys) managing me and dozens of sergeant majors and RSMs and I would have to say that you would always respond best to the firm but fair approach and especially by those leading by example. Any Bellshill merchants amongst them who simply resorted to bullying would soon get rumbled and isolated.

Gary Neville stated that Keane had it all and was born a leader. Despite being born with leadership qualities he also happened to be the most technically gifted and bravest player, possibly of all time. What stands out to me though was Neville's statement that Keano could make you feel 10 feet tall and that everybody wanted to please him.

I've done a lot of managing in my time too and have always found that setting an example by working the hardest, especially on matters that impacted most on the employees, went a long way. Making sure that you showed a personal interest in them too with regular updates on how each of them are doing, while enquiring about their wellbeing and their family's too always was appreciated. The snippets I've read about Keane indictates that he too works in this way.

I'd imagine that he will make it very clear what his standards are, what the boundaries are and what the consequences will be for breaking them and all done up front at the very start.

From then in its about being consistent and pragmatic with them.

Easy this management stuff 😆

Oh yeah and there's always the advice to pass it to a red and white shirt and then move.

When they eventually fix the beautiful old buildings that are full of character. Or when the place is flooded with Yanks. Beautiful people in Havana in my experience who are likely to change when exposed to Yanks.
But hey more Important things to discuss!
As long as the BV Social Clerb doesn't go

"Knows League 1"
Dishevelled
Won't frighten the players
Won't be a threat to the remnants of Madrox
His contacts might give us a better chance of recruiting players from Hull & Peterborough in future
Who on earth thinks that Keane wouldn't be appointed because he would be a threat to Donald/Methven? I've heard of some nonsense conspiracies but haway man that's just ludicrous.

Tactics won’t get us promoted. Someone coming in for 19 games with a special magic tactic won’t get us promoted.

The fact is we have some excellent players at this club & they’ve shown it when they’ve pummelled teams. The major concern is the lack of leadership, backbone & fight when it goes to shit. It’s went to shit too many times with these good players which is why we’re lagging behind.

What we need is to turn the f***ing turbo engines on & go on a run. We can’t sign steel & determination now, but if we get the right team in off the pitch we might be able to install it.

If he’s announced today, feel it at the match tomorrow. It’ll be a very different club than that one that played Portsmouth
Completely agree, but I'd say he's more tactically astute than he's given credit for.

If Keane isn’t being chosen or in with a great chance then KLD should say before tomorrow.
Otherwise he will be sat listening to the Keane song for 90 minutes knowing he is going to pop the balloon.
There was a few suggestions that he wouldn’t be appointed until after the game -no idea why that would be mind?

It's tongue-in-cheek - nobody should really worry about grown adult athletes being frightened of a football manager, either. It's just a list of nonsense as daft as any of the other bananas reasons anyone might prefer Grant McCann to Roy Keane.

The point is we don't have the financial clout to cover up any managerial weaknesses Keane may have.

The game is also different tactically, I don't think you can get away with just motivating a team up the league anymore.

Why would you say that about Keane and not any other manager on the planet as they a have them and we should now all be aware of that. In fact I'll go further- Roy Keane's best managerial spell here was how he turned players careers around and weeded out the crap during the first six months, when it wasn't really clouded by signings. He even got players like Nos playing in positions they didn't feel they could play, when 'proper' managers like McCarthy couldn't. Sure we had six on deadline day but that was purely to pad out a massively weekend squad and replace players who had gone, it wasn't a major spend at that point.

Of course you can motivate and organise a team up the league, especially at this level, though I'm not all all sure why people are suggesting he's some kind of tactical novice.

Can't see many in our squad who wouldn't relish the chance. It's only the slackers and divvies who don't like him
If any young lad in our squad is worried, not looking forward to working with an icon like Keane and would prefer a grant mcann they won’t make it at higher levels
This should inspire them as Keane merely demands to be the best version of yourself
Get it done KLD

Imagine being a young and hungry midfielder like Matete, getting a move to a much bigger club then finding out Roy Keane to be manager...
Not just him mate. Think of players like Luke O’Nien. I’m sure he will be buzzing at that thought.
