Roy Keane

My point is that if another manager with the same record as Keane was being suggested nobody on here would want them as they don't have stats to suggest they'd be able to get us out the league with 17 games left.
We were bottom after we started with 4 straight defeats, and this after a 15 point relegation. He won the title that year

Then kept us up despite our previous two seasons on the top flight mustering 34 point’s combined

Sounding less likely with every passing hour.

Nothing he says there is really a negative from how I read it. Sunderland aren’t going to literally interview one person…a) it’s illegal and b) it’ll give Keane the impression he can push/ask for more than if he were a number of candidates.

One thing I would say, if Keane is serious about getting back into manage as he’s mentioned, this will be his last opportunity at a “real” football club. If he doesn’t take it, he’s done in management imo.

I’d like to think he’s announced before weekend and I’m confident he will be.

Yeah, he did brilliantly and I'll always love him for that. But if some other manager had a similar record and then had been out of work for as long, would anyone ever consider them for this job?

But it’s not “some other manager” so that point is irrelevant.

None of the other candidates look great on paper either. You may be in the camp that assumes because McCann got promoted last season that guarantees he would this season, it doesn’t. He’s awful as evidenced by the hull fans dislike of him.
