Roy Keane

We used to laugh at the mags over their Keegan and Shearer obsession. We are going the same over Keane and Defoe. We just lost 6-0 and it’s seems forgotten over a couple of big names.

I like Defoe but can’t stand Keane. Some of the things he’s said and done over the years are appalling. We will become Ireland reserves again and that won’t get us where we want to be.
I really like Keane and would be excited if he came. BUT for me the structure and set up is key and I worry that Keane would disrupt that. That said it would show the sway and influence KLD/Speakman have.

And woe betide anyone who asks about his actual management credentials.

You just get told to “fuck off”.

Its got Dave Jones all over this.

There will have been talk in the boardroom of amazing times, 'lifting the whole club', galvanising etc etc. I can actually picture it.

But there has been clearly no consideration modern day football or man management.

Bonkers sentimental blindness if you ask me

Tbf if Keane wasn’t confident he could do it, he wouldn’t come
That's why I think he will turn it down.........either that or the kld project is not as ambitious as Keenes and of course keene is not known as a nurturer of young talent vis a vis the kld/speakman model.

Always one

I think it’s the wrong appointment

Did brilliantly last time, but I think the game has moved on. And I don’t think he has the man management skills to be successful over a sustained period of time.

I absolutely hope I’m wrong.

For once you're spot on. Dunno who woud be worse, Hayes or Keane.

The club will simply say, do we have a better chance of promotion with Johnson or keane. The answer is Roy Keane.

Whole atmosphere and buzz could drag us closer. LJ was falling further behind

There’s the “modern day football” bollocks again. As if it’s now a 15 a side game played on hoverboards.

If he does get the job I wonder if he will move closer to Sunderland this time, didn’t he live in Manchester when he first was here?

How could life be any worse?

Appoint him and lets enjoy it. It may not work, but good lord it'd be great to have him come and try.
This!
I can understand that people may have reservations about his managerial nous. What I don’t get is the abject negativity about his impending return. Have people been watching these last few years?

It‘s February, we could still go up, and these phantom potential managers from Europe and the like aren’t likely to bail on their current teams to come to a third division club in NE England! Even if they did, it’s unlikely they’d have the immediate effect we need.

Keane has a point to prove, knows and loves the area and its people, understands the fans and commands respect in the game. This is his moment, his opportunity to succeed in coaching and take us forward. If he blows it, he’ll probably never manage another league club in this country again!

There‘s little, if any long term damage can come from this given we have a DoF and an owner who seems careful with money. Let’s just see where he takes us.
