Maybe my post has been misinterpreted going by the first two replies. Keane is a poor appointment, but he’s infinitely better than McCann or Neil, who are garbage. Having said that if we appoint Keane, KLD is a waste of space and we might as well have kept Short. It also means Speakman is a waste of space.
We don't need a tactical genius we need lifting out of a shithole and he's the personality to do that.

His interviews more recently have been about how he enjoys preparing the team more than contract stuff. Honestly, he’s an ideal Head Coach.

Precisely this. I know I keep harping back to it, but his hour-long interview with Neville was fantastic for insight in to his attitude, thoughts on management etc. He says in it that he loves working with players, getting the team ready for the next game etc - but he doesn't like the "other stuff" (he gives examples of contract talks, medical stuff, the academy stuff etc).

I've seen a lot of people say "he wouldn't work as a head coach", but that's actually the complete opposite of things that he's actually said. Based on what he's said, you'd think that he would absolutely love the chance to just work with the team, and leave the "other stuff" to Speakman.
