Roy Keane

Some ridiculously lazy caricatures of Roy Keane on this thread mind.
He creates and nurtures them on a regular basis with his media image. Plenty of ex-players talked about him snapping tactic boards in half etc. Did it twice during one half time talk according to whitehead (i think it was).

Fuck it I'd love this to happen, he's matured and no doubt has ran through his head what he'd do differently, people forget we were his first job fresh out of playing then had some tough jobs which he will have learnt from. I'd be buzzing with this like having thought it would be a bad idea at first.

We’re absolutely fucked now aren’t we
Anyone but Keane and we’re all going to meltdown

I would have snapped some necks in that dressing room, never mind boards

Said the same this morning fella, it’s like the media on here, you’d think they’d not seen him manage us first hand!

This is the bloke who came in and carried this club from bottom of the Championship to the Premier League, and kept us there.

Yes, it didn't work out for him at Ipswich, but it hasn't worked out for any manager at Ipswich for a long time. Sometimes clubs just go in to decline and its very tough for anyone to arrest that decline. We should know that as well as any fan base.

The man is a winner and a legend of the game. He has a good history with this club, still speaks affectionately about it and is keen to get back in to management. He's one of the few people in football who can walk in to a dressing room and command instant respect. I can't even begin to think how much of a boost it would give the young lads in our squad to be working for Roy Keane. How much they'd get from it.

I've heard him speak a lot about football and reflect on the times he had - and mistakes he made - at SAFC and Ipswich. I have no doubt whatsoever that he'd be a better manager now than he was back then. Let's not foget that back then, he was in his 30s and fresh off the back of his playing career. He admits that that there was a lot he needed to know, but didn't back then.

If he wants the job it's an absolute f***ing no brainer for me.

Will Barnsey have any source info or will it be “ they are interviewing a number of candidates” at 6pm

Excellent post.

When you're in the shit (3rd with more games played) you need passion, momentum and desire to the do the seemingly impossible. That is Roy Keane in a nutshell.

If we end up in the play offs you need people to step up for the big occasion. Again experience wise Keane ticks that box.

This isn't about being clever or cute. This is a grasp the nettle and go for it scenario. If we fall short at least we have given it our best shot.

Or we could have kept Johnson or employ someone of his ilk and sleep walk to another season or 2 in this backwater of a division.

Could Roy Keane achieve promotion this season and sweep through the Championship next season? Yes he could. Who else could? Not f***ing many. Yes, any appointment could go wrong but I say roll the dice and strap ourselves in. It won't be boring!
Would be worth it just for his match analysis
