yes..and where does the head coach/manager have to show leaderhsip skills? is it on the pitch..or perhaps..stay with me here..off the pitch? where keane has never displayed leaderhsip skills in any systematic or extensive way..
OK he is decisive in what he wants which is a good start..but only a start..
I'm not being funny but why can't you just let us lifelong Sunderland fans discuss this as we want to think positive and increase positivity. Just come back another day or comment on a different thread.

It sounds like there's been some contact. Seriously doubt it'll happen though, plus they're talking to loads apparently..
Any idea if they have preferred choices? Preliminary talks with loads sounds like a slow process considering we only have 17 games left.

i get where you are coming from...and will bear it in mind..i guess my view is..i dont know why people have a positive view of keane now? i mean if i were criticisng keanes performance when he was here...that would be ruining peopls positive meories...but im not doing that,..he did well enough when jere before

That's what worried me yesterday hearing 'we'll take as long as it needs'.

We need someone in to take charge by Saturday imo. On paper easiest game of season, new manager getting a winning start would be an instant springboard.

We can't leave it another week or 2. My opinion anyway..

Warnock and Keane the 2 biggest threads on here with regards to manager, neither will either be interviewed based on what we have seen so far from KLD and Speakman

I might be wrong, but it would be a major major step away from how they have conducted business so far

I think it shows the gap between what some fans want and what the board wants.

Watching that again way he talks about us wouldn’t be surprised if he’s begging KLD to give him a shot till the end of the season...

Seems very reflective of his time at Sunderland and Ipswich. He knows what he did well and what he could have done better.

I would have him back in a heartbeat. Imagine what it would be for a young player in League One to have Roy Keane as your manager.

Not to mention what it would give the crowd. The advantage we would have in the run in, if we could genuinely get the pace bouncing, can't be overstated. I honestly think a lot of opposition players/teams would just fold if the place was really rocking.

I suppose from their perspective if the playing style won’t change as managers come and go they may think Jevons can send out a team in the short term that should be capable.

Keane succeeded when he bought hard working players who looked up to him, especially the Irish ones.

Keane failed when he signed terrible personalities like chimbonda and Diouf who he couldn’t control and who didn’t respect him. Would our current lot respect him? Most probably weren’t even born when he retired

It’s puzzling how people have a sort of set rigid view of a person.
Keane is an intelligent man.
If he genuinely wanted the job I’m sure he’d go along with structure that his employers wanted.
Also his management style I’m sure he would be able to adjust and learn from any mistakes he’s made in the past and does have the little matter of getting us promoted and staying up in his first season on his CV.
The managers he’s played under and the level he’s operated at as player, I would think he’ll have the capacity set up a team that is good offensively and solid enough defensively.
I’m not saying he’d be my first choice, but I wouldn’t be disappointed if he was appointed.
Brian Clough had great faith in Roy Keane and his winning mentality . And thats a man who knew "what was what" .

Very few managers, if any, you couldn't be critical of. Nature of the role, most get sack eventually. But L1 is different to the championship. In addition, sometimes people learn from mistakes.
