If this comes off, surely a decent amount of credit must be owed to Dave Jones.

I don't for one minute believe he hasn't picked the phone up to Keane, or vice versa.

Plenty questioned his involvement and value last year on here. Heavily involved in the JD signing as well

I know over the road said there were 2 interviews yesterday but I’ve been told there wasn’t. The ‘it’s Keane if he wants it’ and that he’s actually been offered it is not true, he’s here today though (not at the Ramside as people have said).

My personal opinion is that they’ll be concerned that he’s been out the game too long and that it’s moved on, he would need very good people around him. Relied last time on people he knew, hopefully he hasn’t lost them contacts in the game.
Yes there obviously are concerns however LJ hasn't been out of the game and still remains an utter failure. I would imagine that there are many hurdles to overcome to appoint Keane but his passion and logic for the game remains the same. Hopefully it's not Lennon and I don't know much about GM so if it's a temporary few months lift and see how we do its got to be RK. Along with the Defoe signing the impetus could see us through and a championship side and see how RK then feels. Contracts mean sod all and all managers eventually fail but a time spent in a positive state after the shitshow we have been through these past few years could be the catalyst for success relative to Ross Grayson and Johnson. Keane will give us that imo.

That's not really my point, pretend it's not Keane and just another manager that had a similar record with a different club. Would we be considering them for our last ditch promotion push?
I see what you’re trying to say, although it doesn’t really work because Roy Keane is Roy Keane, he’s not somebody else.

But to humour you. If this was Steve Bould, Dennis Bergkamp or Thierry Henry we were talking about - none of whom even have as good a record as Roy Keane over the past 10-15 years - then I’d still be saying “Hell, yes, bring them in for the last 17 games”.

You’ve got to create a wave to ride a crest!

Does that help?

KLD isn't daft. he's playing the media and social game to whip up interest and excitement. there's not a chance he liked that post about Keane returning if it wasn't happening given he'd just seen the frenzy Defoe returning caused

Having Keano back may work and it may not. However, there is no great downside if we have to find another manager for next season. At least with a short term contract he can't be asked to relocate his family which seemed part of the problem when he left last time.
