*~*~* Rotherham v Sunderland match thread *~*~*

We had the pp money most on here bang on about. We chose not to use it. Sane choice all teams coming down have. Any of this seasons teams could have gone sane way. Burnley were in huge amounts of debt last year but owners stood firm. It's not a given relegated sides go back up.
Have a look at the squad ffs

We had even more debt and an owner who you've even said had given up.
You're not making any sense .
It was a choice not an imperative. Teams have come down and nit gone back up, we were most extreme example but there have been many many more since prem started. Going down doesn't mean a free hit at promotion the following season.

You missed my point. Too many times we were slow to react to the second ball. Successful teams win the majority of second balls. That period in the first half wher they could have scored 3 times was down to us being on our heels and not reacting quickly enough to win it.
I said prior to kick off, we are possibly the slowest team in the league. Painful to watch now.

It's not unfair if the coach knows and accepts that when he signs on.
That’s true but it’s not an ideal situation for a club with a limited budget and buying from the bargain basement. It’s ok though the head coach will be relieved of his services with a nice salary pay off.

Modern football marra.
Only the absolute elite get much say in who the clubs buy.

Also finishing 6th doesn't mean the league is there for the taking. Leicester, Leeds and Southampton had sellable assets after relegation and also didn't have crippling debts like us.
I'm not sure you've thought this through

Check the finances. Leicester are not in good health, Southampton aren't far behind. No side generally comes down in good health but theh do have pp, which was the point I think many make. It's a choice to gamble on going back up. One wba and Watford failed with. Derby are in l1 due ti it and Birmingham are in toilet. We had a squad ready to take step up with a few key additions, we brought in 11 players and let many players go. Change we didn't need.

Rotherham with a huge Premier league budget, I've supported the lads for 50 years, I am well aware of how money has f**ked football, I'm not saying we need to spend fortunes but a club like ours should be able to beat a team adrift at the bottom of the league. We keep hearing about a project but have heard very little from the people carrying out the project. What is their actual ambition

So, we sack Mowbray because he can’t take us further. And recruit Beale because he’s the coach who can. I’ll stay in the ‘give him a chance’ frame of mind but at the moment we’re worse, and I see nothing to show he’s changing anything for the better.
Me too. That 1st half worries me the style he wants to implement. We have lost all movement, pressing. Defence sitting too deep and midfield not shoeing for ball. Awful.
We could have Jude plsying CF and he’d touch it 3 times in a half.

Touchè

Just don't see how a complete failure is suddenly going to change simply because he is our manager marra.

He's LJ without the personality. An atmosphere hoover.
😊

I’m not a great fan as yet, but I feel he deserves a chance.

Poor performance tonight, but from his comments he knows that.

The proof of the pudding will be if he puts things right over the next few weeks.

Check the player sales of both..it's night and day from ours. Also they have owners who haven't given up.
We simply weren't well placed to come back up.

Considerably better than either of ours
You asked me to look at our squad when we went down. Burnley was just as poor. They switched it around quickly. We could have but didn't. Not all relegated sides go straight back up, we had a chance to get in amongst it but regressed instead of progressing. We're a worse side than last year.

We couldn’t beat a Rotherham team with 6 first team players missing that’s how bad it’s getting

You don’t think Leeds, Soton and Leicester had debts?
