*~*~* Rotherham v Sunderland match thread *~*~*

If you win them they do, yes.

Leicester and Ipswich are miles ahead of where we were last season. Losing Amad and Stewart was always going to be tough.
Ipswich were behind us at start of season before we made ourselves weaker. We've had over 2 years ti source a striker, we've failed miserably
The league wasn't there for the taking at all. That's just simply not true
Ask Ipswich.

Play offs get you promotion like? They get you a chance in a 4 team lottery. Nothing more. The league was there for the taking but we made ourselves weaker.

The league wasn’t there for the taking at all mind. Leicester were always going to take charge, Southampton had a slow start but are flying now, and Leeds are up there. That was predicted by everyone, the 3 sides who Camry down will do well. Not many predicted Ipswich to do so well, but realistically we were always playing for 4th

Where were you expecting ambition? They’ve been very clear on the recruitment strategy.

The Head Coach appointment was hugely disappointing but the club said they wanted a coach coach.

I don’t like it but they’ve not veered off their plan.
I’m not sure people really understood what ‘the model’ was. I think the strategy of getting a coach coach in to further being an elite development centre where players’ individual progression is more important than team performance will lose the fans this season. That, amongst all the other cost reduction strategies, will poison the atmosphere and make player progression more difficult.
So flexibility is needed.

We are playing against teams with Premiership budgets, we either spend more than we are allowed under FFP and risk getting sanctioned or we create our own wealth which takes a lot longer than the ADHD supporters we have can cope with .
We totally outplayed Southampton we beat Leeds and would have beaten Leicester with a striker who could find the net. Now we are struggling against bottom of the table Rotherham, happy days

Fair enough. I’m not blaming Beale personally.

Some of the players like Auochiche, Jobe etc need to have a word with themselves
Beale has to take some blame, for bringing Ba on instead of Pritch or Rusyn and later bringing Burstow on as our preferred striker. The coaching staff should be able to see what most of our supporters can see. I, like most others I suspect, are happy to give Beale a chance to prove himself, but could he please stop selecting players who are clearly not up to the job.

We did dig in and got a point from a turgid performance. I don't think there is a lack of effort or fight from this team. Bit of quality? Definitely
You missed my point. Too many times we were slow to react to the second ball. Successful teams win the majority of second balls. That period in the first half wher they could have scored 3 times was down to us being on our heels and not reacting quickly enough to win it.

Maybe I am clutching at straws but I like to console myself with the idea that Michael is trying to mould the team into his style of football and that the team is taking a bit of time to adjust after the style set up by Mowbray.

Jack Clarke is wasting his time here unless there is a real splash the cash in January. He, Clarke, deserves to be playing at a higher level.
Either the owner's demonstrate ambition and bring in support or just get his fee for a rebuild.
There is no way we merit promotion and we'll only achieve that by some fluke.
Seemed a team of strangers tonight after all that lovely fluid passing we had glimpses of.
And I've dared to dream we'd get a result against the Scum.
Beale, and I can't stand his accent ( I've met so many cockneys who are all swagger and poise and no delivery ) Beale has a very real task ahead of him in the next two games.
He is on a very short probation.

And that’s a very reasonable response.

And you are probably right with most of it, and 100% right with the last bit.

They may. And they certainly look a good bet to go up automatically. Something we were after the Luton playoff
They won't win the league and i think Southampton to catch them and finish 2nd.
Leicester and Southampton have spent money we haven't got and came down with players of top quality for this level.
To say the league was there for the taking is absolute bollocks.
