*~*~* Rotherham v Sunderland match thread *~*~*

Embarrassing, that. We made ridiculously hard work of it at both ends. Defensively we were bullied by big, physical plodders and didn’t look comfortable. At the other end, we made such hard work of it you’d have thought we were playing mid-90’s AC Milan.

We seem to have forgotten how to play football and move into space in the space of a few weeks.

We’re heading in completely the wrong direction.

What from the first three games have you seen as a positive? What in his career elsewhere makes you think he will be a success here?

My point is twofold:

Mowbray shouldn’t have been sacked at this stage of the season unless there was a ready made replacement available who would inspire the fan base

Beale isn’t good enough. He failed at QPR and Rangers. He has shown nothing in three games (I appreciate it’s a short period of time) to suggest he will be a success.
He didn't fail at QPR. I repeat you cannot judge a coach on 3 games. Its utterly ridiculous to do so. I get your point about the Mowbray sackinga nd a replacement should have been in place first.

I agree that Mowbray shouldnt have been sacked until his replacemnet had been sorted. Beale ,he didn't fail at QPR. He may well be as shite as people say , but 3 games isn't enough to judge him on. Mowbray last season lost at Rotherham.

The Southampton home game was a million miles away from the shit I witnessed tonight.

Great, so Sunderland try to do things slowly for the "project", are the rest of teams going to stand still and allow us to progress as we want
We are playing against teams with Premiership budgets, we either spend more than we are allowed under FFP and risk getting sanctioned or we create our own wealth which takes a lot longer than the ADHD supporters we have can cope with .

Ffs this negative doom and gloom going on here over getting a point at Rotherham, was it a shit performance for most the game - yes, we should of won in the end - yes, Clarke bailed us out again - yes, did we lose this game there 2-1 last season - yes, they just beat Boro 1-0 last game at home yes. I didn't expect us to go to Hull and get a win but it happened. Not on beales side or a happy clapper but this forum is mental sometimes, some fans just want us to get beat so they can say see Beale is shit Speakman we told you so. Our performance has to be miles better against Preston and Beale needs to rest a few players imo, took 4 points from 2 away games will do me. night all

McCann and Kilbane wow !!!!! FTM

I wasn’t a season ticket holder at the time and joined in time for the 15 point relegation season so I am more used to players like Darren Carter, Le Tallec and Jeff Whitley. But I remember the 1999-200 season and they would go to places like Villa Park and Reidy would have us win that one 2-1. Or draw with Everton at home 2-2.

Those days are long gone my friend. We must expect a different set of standards. We cannot live with our heads in the clouds.

I thought that at the time too (as well as talking up Clarke and Dejaku as strikers previously), but now I think he actually thinks that way, as if we're Barcelona circa 2009 reinvented.

The way we play, another manager trying to shoe-horn Aouchiche and Ba in and barring a just gone 20 year old from Portugal with absolutely no senior record, Gelhardt, Burstow, Rusyn and Mayenda- all players who have played off the left, right or deeper we don't look to have signed an out and out striker.
In trying to be clever he's ruined any good work. You may be correct, however if you are that's even more worrying as it indicates the pattern of behaviour won't change (which I'm thinking too) and the club can't move forward without this most vital position being filled correctly
