Nope, we finished 16th that season. It was appalling. We went years without a proper forward. Eventually scraped promotion last season. You might have missed that.

No one knew he'd be injured to that extent once he left us, so no good congratulating him on that

We would've been absolute f***ing idiots to turn down £10 million at the time. He was injured and barely played a game for Southampton that season anyway. :lol:

Stewart was unavailable for 53 of the next 66 games after he was sold for £10m.

As good as he can be, he'd have made virtually no difference to the situation at the time.

If we'd kept him and lost him for nothing the next summer, you'd have been the first one on here criticising the club for pissing the opportunity to get £10m for him up the wall. "How could they not have seen his injuries coming?" etc etc.

Perhaps the club, who had access to his medical information and who had been treating him for years, knew exactly what was coming. Ever consider that they may have known more than you with the inside knowledge they had?

Sick to death of these bright sparks who banged the "sign a striker, ANY STRIKER" for years on here still trying to act as if they were right all along when it couldn't be further from the truth.

The right to criticise the club's transfer policy and decisions made was killed once and for all on May 24th 2025.

That's just hindsight though.
Southampton thought he was fit enough to offer £10 million. We thought he was fit enough to offer a new contract.
He refused to sign a new contract as he wanted to go to Southampton instead. Just because he ended up injured again, it doesn't justify him wanting to move. That doesn't even make sense.

"I wish him well, even though he jumped ship for the cash to play for a rival team, because I saw into the future and knew he'd be injured. Good old Ross lad"



Give over, up until the summer gone, our transfers were average to poor. Scraped promotion from League One and Championship.

I hope we keep scraping things for the next few seasons too.

Scrape European football this season.

Scrape a cup next.

Scrape a league title in a few years time,

Scrape FC. 8-)
