Roko Simic - potential signing

For what it's worth there's absolutely no chatter on twitter at all about him and Bochum since a month ago, which would be very strange if he was apparently tagged in stories about eating out in Gelsenkirchen

Seems like that part was a joke but he has started following them

Ok. So I’ve seen Šimić play a couple of times in the flesh.

I work for an Austrian company, headquartered in Salzburg and the company has four season tickets at RB Salzburg that it shares around staff.

Can’t say he (Šimić) stood out massively. I’ve seen Aaronson, Adeyemi and Šeško in past 2-3 seasons play for RB Salzburg. Now they, especially the latter two, looked a cut above in comparison.

As you might imagine, RB Salzburg have dominated Austrian football since Red Bull (whose headquarters are in the mountains overlooking Fuschlsee, one of so many beautiful lakes around here, about half hour from Salzburg – an incredible spot). In fact, in the 19 years since Red Bull took the club over they’ve either been champions or runners-up. Until last season they’d win 10 titles in a row. But Sturm Graz won the Bundesliga last year.

Anyway. I digress. They (RB Salzy) won’t want that happening again so I’m not surprised to see some churn and people out of the door.

He’s a big lad of course. But mobile. Although I have to say I never thought at any point he was anything other than competent. Hardly prolific in a league where besides RB Salzburg there’s only about 3-4 decent teams and the rest are a lot of old toot.

Šimić is decent with the ball at his feet for a tall fella. Young, comes from good footballing stock… but this feels a little bit of a punt. Still, at least it’s a striker.

I see Wiki already have him signed for us!
