Roko Simic - potential signing

The “duds” list is a lot longer than that, too.

The amount of absolute dross our squad has been lumbered with over the past three or four transfer windows, is incredible. Incredibly grim. It’s no coincidence we’ve been going backwards at such a rate of knots for the best part of the past year or so.

But the usual suspects are out pretending that it’s all great, because we won a game on Saturday. You can spot the idiots a mile off - because they think whatever the last result was, is evidence of something to do with the big picture. It isn’t.
Exactly mate, what worries me is how the hell are we going to clear that lot in order to allow the Tommy Watson gang to develop through to the 1st team.

Everyone of the so called dross you called are worth more now than what we paid for them

Yes but thats based on Pembele,Triantis Seelt,Hjelde,Ba,Hemir,Rusyn,Michut,Geldhard,Diaku,Ouchshite, and jury still out on others like Mundle. Can you see where the idea that they dont know what they are doing came from.Yes they did well when they first came in doing deals on the never never,as we are now seeing with us owing clubs a cut of transfer fees. The last 3 windows have been shit and on long contract

How can you say the jury is still out on Mundle and not some of the others? Mundle has played more than Triantis for example and about as much as Hjelde. Most of your list are still young enough to develop and improve...

Pembele - was worth a gamble, came with huge pedigree and hasn't the game time he needed to get back to fitness and show what he's really capable of. He's going on loan, still young and could come back a far stronger player! Even if he doesn't it was worth a roll of the dice.

Triantis - has hardly kicked a ball for us yet and has had a successful loan at Hibs. Was signed as one for the future and there's still plenty of time for him to come good.

Seelt - played well last season and looked like a good find. No idea why he's in your list.

Hjelde - was very poor last season when he joined, but he's admitted he wasn't fully fit. I'll judge him after this season (if he plays enough games to form an opinion) still an U21 international there's potential there.

Ba - looked a good prospect when we signed him and hasn't kicked on. If RLB doesn't help him with his consistancy and decision this season then I'd sell him but he has still scored and assisted plenty over two seasons.

Hemir - doesn't look up to it (but again very little chance to shine and barely any experience of first team football). Looks more of an attitude issue than ability to me. Can't really pin that out Speakman. But wasn't what we needed last summer so that's on Speakman (seems to have learned his lesson based on links to Mendy, Simic and Isidor).

Rusyn - not helped by all the managerial farce - that you can also pin on Speakman. Signed as a striker and looks more like a winger - looked the best of the 4 strikers signed last summer though and Mayenda is showing not to judge on the back of last season.

Michut - was a solid loan for us. No idea why he's in this!

Gelhardt - wasn't anywhere near as bad as people made out, not an out and out goalscorer but wasn't signed to be, he was supposed to play off Stewart. Injury ruined those plans.

Dajaku - decent squad player in League One - shouldn't have put an obligation to buy in the loan though (hopefully lessons learned there too, we've not done it again since).

Aouchiche - no issue with him being signed or still being in and around the squad he will prove to be a useful player for us this season when injuries and suspensions kick in.

Not really that bad, if you are rational and balanced about it. Recruitment is always going to be hit and miss, even the most experienced get it wrong and Speakman is actually still relatively knew to this role, this is his first DoF job and he's learning as he goes - as long as he does that then I'm fine with it (I've shown a couple of examples that suggest he is).

I’m sure some are but all?

Eg

How much can we sell Hjelde for at this moment in time? Reportedly paid 2.5m for him?

Rusyn? How much can we get for him? Again 2.5m paid?

I’m not sure many championship clubs would come in with offers more than that? Could go on as well…

They might make money but at the moment saying everyone is worth more is just incorrect.

For all the talk of how all our recent signings are great and worth more than what we paid for them, and that we are in a much better place than we were in league 1, we started the game at the weekend with 7 players who were at the club when we were in league 1!

I’d say the only players who’ve come in and are a good improvement on previous squad players are Jobe & Ballard, which funnily enough marries up with what the managers think as well.

The rest have not really pulled up any more trees than the likes of Bailey Wright, batth, Doyle, Pritchard et al.

Agreed. We are still living off the successes of our transfers before we came up and our recruitment since promotion has been pretty poor overall.

The first 11 we have is , imo , a very very good starting 11.

I'm not saying you are, but some of our fans are imo a bit deluded that we should be able to go out and bring in players who are better than the starting 11 from Sunday and improve the first team easily.

The best way to do this has been by getting young players in as to get a left sided player in who is better than Clarke or cirkin, a midfielder better than Neil , Browne , Bellingham and rigg, a right side player better than Hume and Roberts and a defender better than Ballard 09 and alese - it's tricky unless you're going to spend 5/10 mil or more as that is what most of these are now worth - that's the team KS has delivered.
unfortunately for new players coming in the starting 11 is so good that it's hard for these players to get a run in the side.

It doesn't mean they are Duds. It just means they aren't as good as Clarke.
Wasn't that long ago you were staying that Hume was a dud and would be nowhere near the starting 11.

Meyander, mundle , aouchiche may all prove to be useful additions to add to the quality starting 11 that KS and KLD have given us.
Striker aside , even the most negative on here surely thinks that our starting 11 from Saturday is pretty f***ing good ? And thats with browne , Ballard and ekwah all as subs. Be happy if those 3 started.

So not dudds, just young players who aren't as good as Roberts or clarke.
