Only for the memories. Some of us remember being in there with 50k as recently as 1980. It was sad as fuck seeing it crippled by cuts and a capacity of 22k by the end.

Murray should have developed RP into a 32000 all seat stadium.
I'm sure it could have been done and the atmosphere would have been class

Would have shown no ambition though, any level of success (even in this league ffs) and we would be sold out. Imagine the ticket prices in the Premier if there was 15,000 on the waiting list?

He died when I was young 95 but he stands out amongst crowd from his height and the guy stood next to him looks like has same hair as his mate Ronnie.

The footprint of the modernised Stamford Bridge hasn’t changed much, they had the room to be able to do it.

The same really for Molineux.

We could have done what they did for Anfield and buy up the surrounding streets, but with buying those, demolition costs and then rebuilding it would have cost about 5 times as much as it did to build the SoL.

Wonder how many sections of the open end we had 85?
Section near the new stand was kept empty iirc.
Looking from left to right, after the section kept empty, I reckon we had the 2 big sections next to it and maybe the 2 smaller sections tho might have been just 1. Could easily have filled 2 more sections as coaches were stopped and turned back apparently.

I noticed the roof of Stamford Bridge looked an absolute clip on MOTD mind - rusty as owt.

I remember when they first built that and I saw it on the telly. I was amazed by the size of it.

And realistically, what parts of RP could have been retained if we wanted a modern all-seater stadium?

The pitch and the location, but it would have been like Triggers sweeping brush, the same thing in name alone.

So it had to move, there just wasn’t enough space on the old site to house anything safe and modern.

I went to every home game for years at RP and only had a ST the last season.
