Robin Roefs 🇳🇱 compendium

I never said they were. People are allowed to point out what they think.
Yes of course but I’m sure that Roefs himself and the coaching staff will analyse every goal that he concedes. But today he conceded the same amount of goals as Raya who has a better team in front of him.

At this stage we need a capable goalie who’s about average in the top flight.

Nobody has debated any of that...

He's been an exceptional signing but as a small criticism needs to work on those low near post shots IMO.

I think he should have done better with both Saka and Garnacho's in recent weeks.

That said, he made a canny save from Calafori at the end of the game, has the second best goals prevented of any PL GK this season, and has won us plenty of points already.

I love Roefs, wouldn't swap him for any keeper in the league but he made a couple of mistakes today.

I wouldn't blame him for either goal. Saka was very close in and the Trossard strike was outstanding.

However, in hindsight it wasn't a great ball to Le Fee. Back to goal, player up his arse, shouldn't be giving it to him there for me. Obviously Le Fee at fault too.

The punch before they hit the bar should have been a catch. Not really under much pressure.

Finally the Ballard block at the end. I thought he should have been looking to challenge for the cross. He normally does and does it well. Perhaps he was slightly flat footed?

Still made a couple of really smart big saves today, think he should maybe do better for the first but no chance with the second

He couldn’t claim that cross like it’s swinging well

Did well to save the header from Califiori

It was a high hanging cross. He usually claims them for fun. He was in the right place, he's usually spot on with his angles.

There's an automatic assumption sometimes that a keeper conceding at the near post is always bad. It's not and it wasn't here. Given how well taken both finishes were I'd argue he did well to get as close to both of them as he did. He was fine yesterday. He's had better games, but that's largely because he's already set the standard so high than because he's done anything wrong.

I think Gordon and to an extent Patto suffered from “nearly saves” that sometimes make it look like you should get there but actually most keepers just watch sail in without getting close. ( not suggesting Patto is as good all round but he’s an excellent shot stopper).
We are very fortunate to have Roefs.

He’s class, and keepers only get better as they get older. Most keepers don’t peak til their 30s.

He’s got things to work on, as does every player. They had a shot early on which he should’ve held but punched clear, I still think getting beaten at your near post is poor and his punch for Zubimendi’s chance wasn’t great.

However he kept us in the game with a fabulous save just before Ballard’s block, his distribution is immense and there were a couple of times he swept up at the back. He has an excellent understanding with the defenders.

Enjoy him whilst he’s here because he’ll go onto bigger things once he’s more than finished product. A brilliant signing.

Think i'd also fancy my keeper to save the Trossard effort thats pretty much just to his right aswell.

He's been excellent for us but thought he looked off today.
You are joking ffs🤔

That went in like a rocket, the only way that could have been stopped would have been if he was directly in line and got a lucky hand on it.

Sometimes you just have to give credit to the shot without finding fault.

The near post is probably his biggest weak point, iirc he was also beaten there for the offside goal Brentford scored.

He's been excellent overall though, and he's still got plenty of time to develop and get even better.

It was moving at about 90mph.

The only criticism I have for him is the diving punch thing that he does. I understand he wants to put the ball out of the danger area, but I think there’s quite a high amount of skill needed to actually do it well, and when it goes wrong… well we saw what happens when it went wrong against Villa.

Saka's one is deceptive

Saw on one angle it curls from outside the post in, which from the distance out is very tough as is how hard he has hit it

No chance imo

It was. Hes been beyond brilliant for us. But he shouldn't have been beaten at his near post from there. If saka scores that past Patterson there's uproar.
