Robin Roefs 🇳🇱 compendium

Sounds good, I’ve noticed that the PSR hit is minimal for us. Is it because the long contracts?

Assuming those costs are similar straight away next season though? So say for arguments sake we have £20m PSR hit this season, would we straight away have £20m PSR hit next season?

Sorry if that’s confusing.
Absolutely correct mate.

If a transfer costs 10 million total over a 5 year contract it’s 2 mil per year

Yes, I think so.

I think if all the contracts were spread equally and we spent £200m on 5 year contracts, then we would have already spent £40m on the next 4 seasons as well as this one, not taking into account wages, stadium costs, etc., etc. So at some point we have to sell players too and not just rely on giving everyone a free transfer or we'll have nothing much to spend in future seasons and if we're back in the Championship, the amount of money coming in will be well down even with parachute payments.

It looks like we're doing the complete opposite to Sheffield United and gambling on spending a lot to stay up rather than not bothering and accepting relegation before the season begins.

Already spent more than most predicted so not sure what the argument is.

My assumption is we have decided to get another young keeper that has a few improvements on Patto (more commanding in area, better with feet) and the will compete rather than a more experienced keeper that would automatically be No.1 week in week out.
Is he effective coming off his line and collecting crosses - commanding the area ?
Apparently so.
Immediate improvement on Patterson.

Only concern from his stats is they suggest his passing and long kicks are worse than Patterson which would be a very low bar to pass

Lovely to see Sahil Gidwani's streamlit getting used - it's the best IMO

I'd never heard of him prior to this morning but there's reason to be hopeful that the club are confident they're signing the a Bulka/Petrovic but without their higher profile

I would have felt more confident if we'd signed Ortega to be fair.
That might be understandable and I wouldn't necessarily disagree with you. And, of course, the possibility still exists that Ortega (or similar) might be signed later in the transfer window, particularly if Patterson leaves, or his injury proves to be more serious than has been indicated, to date.

My point was that the fee paid for a player will always be the lowest figure the selling club are prepared to accept. So long as the player is the one the buying club actually wants, the fee is unimportant. The apparent 'Football Manager' driven need to be 'flash with the cash' is silly.

There will be a budget, but nobody on here knows what it actually is, although PSR considerations do give some indication. If a decent player can be brought in for less than an alternative player, then that means there will be more of the budget available to get other transfers over the line, which must surely be a good thing.

I know nothing of Roefs, other than the video clips posted on here, but I think that we need to wait and see what he can do before the cries of "We should have spent more !!" go up.

Some of those stats are obviously complete nonsense like. 80 saves per 90 mins? 77 ball recoveries per 90 mins? 84 crosses stopped per 90 mins? Haway
They’re percentiles mate. So he’s in the 80th percentile for saves per 90 etc

The way Roefs gets across his line and has a ridiculous reach for saves is very positive like

Yeah, we’re in a bit of a unique position to the other teams in that we don’t really have much be carried forward from previous transfers as we never really spent much on our squad before this season so effectively have a clean slate
